Football Mogul 2008 vs FOF 2007

To anyone who has played both Football Mogul 2008 and Front Office Football 2007 which did you enjoy more?

I am thinking of getting one of the games but I am not sure which one I want yet.

Football Mogul is just plain awful. No offense to Clay Dreslough. Actually, he can take offense. I take offense at his games.

I agree. I havent played Football Mogul 2008, but I have FB Mogul 2007 and I understand there isnt really any changes to the engine at all. FM 2007 is terrible. I think FOF has a horrible interface, but the engine itself is ok I guess. Im not entirely pleased with either one of them. If I can get past FOF's interface, its ok. I certainly wouldnt get Football Mogul.

How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you.

Is there a GOOD Football sim out there? Seems like maybe FOF and Mogul both stink...

FOF is by far the best football sim out there unless you are looking for a 3D graphics button clicker.

FOF is a great career football sim(interface is rather plain) but the game itself is great.

Fixed, although by default it's probably the best coaching sim out there too.

FOF wins this one easily. Every version of Football Mogul I have played is the worst sim I have ever attempted to play. That stats are completely messed up, you can not create your own offensive playbook, the real players ratings are messed up. This game is a mess in every aspect.

FOF on the other hand is a nice game. That stats are very realistic and hit has no major bugs that cause any problems. I would like to see the computer AI in regards to financials improve and a better coaching mode but this game is fun for anyone that just likes being the GM and enjoys accurate stats.

I have played FOF since version one and am a big fan of the game.

I do wish the interface and in-game experience was better, but it is a very deep game and one that I can and do play for long careers, often decades of seasons.

I will say this about Football Mogul, over the years I have tried the mogul games. For the most part I have found Baseball Mogul to be a simple game that I enjoy from time to time for a day or two - the absurd results keep me from ever playing it long term.

every time I have tried playing football mogul in the past, I have found it to be really, really bad - not worth playing at all. However after reading this I tried the new demo and I must say the game is much better than previous versions. I thought the in-game play calling was pretty good and better at least at first look than FOF. Now all sim games staying power come down to how realistic they can be. I won't stick with long term games that don't have at least moderately realistic results. No telling how well this version of Football mogul holds up - but I would be interested to hear from someone who owns it.

Does Football Mogul have rudimentary things like fatigue and substitutions yet? Not that I hold out hope since Baseball Mogul still doesn't have position player fatigue over a decade into its development.

The Perfect Football Sim...

...would occur if Jim Gindin (the developer of Front Office Football) signed with Wolverine like Shaun Sullivan just did. Can you imagine FOF with a Wolverine type interface? That would be awesome.

I actually enjoy obtuse interfaces. It keeps out annoying people with no patience. Of course I'm speaking as someone who was hopelessly hooked on the first Championship Manager which looked absolutely awful.

Wolverine is already in the process of making a football game and I am willing to bet it will be the best one on the market when it comes out

I have played both games, and there really is no comparison. Football Mogul is an awful game. The interface is a little more colorful than the one in FOF, but it is not all that user friendly. The gameplay itself is unrealistic at best. Where FOF really outshines Football Mogul is in the offseason options. If you want a deeper franchise mode, it is FOF hands down.
