New Book
I've recently written a tale of the Brooklyn Dodgers, the 1949 NL pennant race, & the history of baseball in the Borough. The first chapter is available for preview at the below link.

The 40s-50s era Brooklyn Dodgers are one of the most written about teams in sports history but I don't think that the '49 team was written about specifically, no. You may be thinking of:
Summer of '49 by David Halberstam, which is about the 1949 Yankees and Red Sox, with a little bit at the end about the Dodgers in the World Series The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn, which was about the 1955 team and how they aged; of course, many of the people who were on the '55 team were also on the '49 one |

Writing baseball books is a cottage industry, and writing about the Brooklyn Dodgers another cottage industry therein.
In addition to Kahn's classic Boys of Summer, there are lesser known books by Rudy Marzano and Carl E. Prince that also focus on the Dodgers in this particular era. Red Barber wrote a book about 1947 (the year all hell broke loose!) There is also Golenbock's Bums and Shapiro's The Last Good Season. Tons of material on the 1950s and 1955 in particular. Then there are a gazillion (okay, maybe not a gazillion...but close!) other books not ostensibly about the Dodgers but which make the Bums a major part of their narrative. But, no, there is no book specifically about 1949 that comes to mind. I could be overlooking something, but I don't think so. As for this particular effort, I rather like the chapter titles. ![]()
