Board was down...

The board database crashed again today at 3 p.m. German time. Sorry guys!
I restored a backup made 2 hours earlier so not too many posts should be lost.
Please let me know if anything is missing or not working.
We've just ordered a new server which is up-to-date and much "bigger" and we'll move the database and the site to that beast ASAP.

3pm German Time = 2pm British Time, so the backup would have been a midday BST one, but I've still got posts missing from between 11 and 12...

FTR, a new server won't help db problems, but I'm sure you know that.

Should have upgraded to vB 3.7 while you had everything down. Didn't take me long at TSW last weekend. Maybe 20 minutes or so.

Less than 6 hours, because I needed some hours to restore everything. There've been some other problems with the server. One of them is that I couldn't have the old board database plus the new one on the disk because then it was full

I had to backup the old (crashed) database first and so on - so, a bigger harddisk would be good and that's one of the reasons why we ordered a new server

As a (dis?) honourary contributor of that thread, I actually had thought it was down because it was game release time.

That was my first thought too, I rushed to check my email but even with that I'm always near the end of the mailing list.

You are not the only one who had think this. I was sure that I was not able to connect because there was too many people downloading the new game. Nothing in my email, but we never know...
