The same reasons there shouldn't be a Front Office Baseball are the same reasons OOTP Football wouldn't work. It starts with the passon of the person making it for that sport.

I, too, would love to see an OOTP type soccer game, with the same type of customizability OOTP baseball has. The existing soccer management games are deeply flawed, and neither of them has a 'can't get fired' option.

I would prefer something like pro basketball but I am probably in a small minority.
I also imagine getting the licenses would be a lot easier and cheaper for the NBA rather than NFL. |

Even though I'm a little more of an American football fan than a pro basketball fan, I think basketball lends itself better to the OOTP model, since it's more of an international game. Markus has indicated that text sims are significantly more popular in Europe than they are in North America. So I would imagine that a basketball game which allowed for the modeling of European leagues would be very successful. The only real drawback, as I see it, is that I can't see the playing out of games being as engaging. (Then again, association football doesn't seem like it should play out that well as a text sim, but just look at how good FM is!)
I guess the bottom line is that if OOTPD can bring someone in with a passion and knowledge for another sport and allow them to build off of OOTP's game engine, any number of game ideas could prove entertaining.

dola,
What I've always wished someone would create is a team-golf sim. I know it sounds ridiculous, since there isn't an established league to model it after (although there are the international cup competitions and college play that use the format) but I think it could be hugely entertaining. I've just never been able to get into golf (or any other non-team sport, for that matter) beyond the majors. However, I've imagined how interesting it might be if all the PGA golfers played on teams representing cities, like the big North American team sport leagues, instead of simply playing for themselves. I realize it's a pipe dream and probably wouldn't be profitable, but I wish someone would try something like this at some point. To my knowledge, it's never even been attempted. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if it caught on, especially with the text sim crowd. They seem to be very open-minded to trying new things.
