The original one is in OT. Probably because it doesn't have much to do with OOTP10, only a passing mention.

Can't really vote since I wouldn't be making an informed choice. Have only played three of those games.

If you have the check mark on non-entry to OT in User CP then it will look that way, but it is there.

EDIT: Or what Stu wrote.

I've played the majority of these. The good news, IMO, for OOTP is that it is clearly the second-best AI at this point. Most of these games have gaping holes in their AI that would cause me to freak out constantly if I loved those sports the way I love baseball.

The bad news is that OOTP is so far behind Football Manager that they're hardly in the same category. FM/WWSM really has no competition whatsoever when it comes to sports games AI.

I must respectfully disagree. I've played FM/CM since 2001 and I don't think the AI is anything special. Just spend some time on the SI boards and count the complaints about the AI.

I'd also agree with this, unless you start off way down the tree it's easy to play FM and even if you take over a poor team it doesn't take that long to go up the leagues.

Well, I think FM is tough if you don't understand how to employ tactics correctly. The other thing I'll say, I feel FM's AI doesn't make incredibly stupid roster decisions.

I do not think that an usefull answer is possible. These game have different audiences and every sport has it owns rules so the demands on an AI are simply too different. Soccer has not the complex roster rules like baseball and no minor teams which a parent team owns so that roster management is much easier. And there are many other different items to consider. Football manager offers now a 3D game and this is a complete other and much more complex dimension (A soccer player moves much more than a baseball player. He runs often several miles in amatch) than calculating game scores based on given stats.

The same is true for every sport. When you do not understand baseball tactics and position you will be lost in OOTP.

Depends on the level of the 'complaint'. I have never seen the AI in FM make the dumb moves that i see in OOTP, both roster moves and tactical in-game moves.

With each new edition that is released, just go to their forum and count the number of "my wingers/strikers/defenders won't play like wingers/strikers/defenders" posts, the number of "my team has 25 shots on goal but only scores once, while the other team has 3 shots on goal and scores twice" posts, etc etc etc.

With each new edition, tactics that were somewhat effective after a great deal of trial-and-error with the previous version become totally useless, and you must spend countless hours developing and tweaking to find new tactics that have some success, even though the players you have with your favorite team are nearly the same as you had last time.

Fundamental football tactics do not change radically from year to year. Why, then, do you have to completely reinvent your tactical arsenal with each new edition of their game?

Some people like their game, some think it is deeply flawed and wish it could be better.

If anyone thinks FM is far above OOTP in the AI area, he or she should go to the FM forum and read what is being complained about there, then come here and read what is complained about here.
