Question Ootp 2008

Hey guys, so the forums to me are a little distorted. They are all probably nicely organized and everyone understands them but I am new here and I am just joining the forums today. Well anyways, so I use a old version of OOTP. OOTP 8, because it is free. I am sure the newer versions are much better but I like what I am using for now. Anyways, I had 2 questions about OOTP 8 and I am not sure if anyone on here knows or remembers these things. One thing, you could edit Financials in your league that was either a fictional league or whatever type of league style you had. I am wondering. When you turn off financials for a league, how are players signed? I know you can just click the "Action" and then "Sign Player" and you will be able to providing the roster space and that the signed player is a free agent. I mean how long does he become signed for? 1 year? 2 years or what? If anyone knows anything where I can get help with this question please let me know. I downloaded the manual that came with it to and have tried to figure out what might happen but I have not found it.
Thanks, Seth.
