IMO, he's been jobbed out of the last three MVP awards as well. In 2010, the award went to third baseman Hugo Perez of Tampa Bay, who hit .323 with 47 homers, 134 RBI, 109 runs, and a 1.012 OPS. Dave hit .356 with 23 homers, 102 RBI, 107 runs, and a 1.001 OPS, winning the batting title. I'd rather have a catcher with those numbers than a third baseman with his any day. In 2011, the award went to Dave's teammate, Shortstop Alva Colmenares, who hit .329 with 32 homers, 119 RBI, 114 runs, and a .956 OPS. Dave hit .343 with 28 homers, 115 RBI, 101 runs, and a .990 OPS, winning his second batting title. In 2012, Dave led the league in BA (.367) OBP (.458) and SLG (.655). He lost out to Shortstop Mario Rowlett of Boston, who hit .310 and had a .954 OPS. The injury that cost Dave his all-star berth cost him the MVP award as well, by costing him six weeks in the middle of the season. Even so, he trailed Rowlett by only three homers (35 to 32) and 17 RBI (117 to 100). Last edited by Spielman : 06-11-2006 at 11:56 PM. |
