How is this for a Rookie Season?
Catcher Magnus Asgard had been drafted in 2003 by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers won the world series that year--thanks in part to a trade that brought I-Rod back to the Team. He struggled that year in single A, but then shot through the rest of the minor league system in 2004.
The Rangers lost I-Rod to Free Agency that year, but signed Javy Lopez for the 2004 season. The Rangers finished with 90 wins that year, but fell three games short of the division title.
The power hitting Asgard (Easy Level) came up in 2005 at age 21 and pushed Lopez to a backup role. By the All star game he was the number one offensive catcher in the league hitting .291 with 19 homers and made the all star team. He finished as the ROY (.298, 28 HR, 101 RBI, .358 OBP, .853 OPS) and the Rangers won the West.
