Corey Patterson...
I've decided to do a dynasty on one of my favorite players on the Cubs team. He is the CF for the Cubs, and has plenty of potential.
The mode is set on HARD! He's a Lefty, throws right. He's set for: 70 Contact 60 Power 20 Eye 60 Gap I feel those are as close as it gets to the real CPatt. The only thing different to his counter-part is that his speed/defense/stealing kinda stinks right now. But you can get those to go up pretty quickly, so I'm just going to work him hard in that department. The league setup: 12 Teams.. 2 Leagues, 2 Divisions in each league. 162 games still. Halfway though, I may decide to re-arrange this league as the MLB today, to make room for the lesser prospects, like me. ![]() The league itself is FULL of HOF players. Babe Ruth, Big Mac, Sosa, Bonds, Cobb, Shoeless Joe, to name a few. It should be mentioned that these big boys are all going to be one, two, three years older than Patterson. The exception will go to a few players who were given an older age at the make of this file. So there are 28 year olds in here, like Sammy Sosa is already 27. That's the only example I have. Shall we get it started? ![]() |

On draft day, Patterson is listed as a 3-star prospect. Not too bad on Hard Mode.
Surprisingly, he fell all the way down to the 5th round. I signed a bonus of $50,000 with the Tigers. Jack Morris Tom Glavine Fernando Valenzuela Doc Gooden Nolan Ryan I like the look of the pitching staff. Hopefully one day Patterson will get to play behind these guys one day. Although, obviously with the lineup being stacked up already it's going to be hard to make the lineup. DiMaggio, Concepcion, Bill Terry just to name a few of the great players on my team.... Anyways. Let's get the season underway at Single A |

Season One comes to an end. Patterson's stats are as followed:
*Reminder, it's accumulated* First Month: .238 3 Hr's Second Month: .257 5 Hr's Third Month: .256 11 Hr's (Easily Patterson's best month.. He hit more homers, RBI's, and doubles during this month) Fourth Month: .236 12 Hr's (This month started a bad streak for CPatt) Final Month: .234 12 Hr's (No homers, average dropped a little more) Overall statistics .234 BA .252 OBP (pitiful) 12 HR's 34 Doubles 42 RBI's 45 Runs I'm not too worried about his stats at this point in his career. If he's not improving his numbers by the age of 25, I'll start to worry then. Let's finish the MLB schedule and see who goes to the playoffs. |

Our Detroit team finished 3rd, five behind the leader.
Detroit stand-outs: Bret Boone, 2B, .346 BA, 24 HR's Hank Greenburg 1B, .306, 35 HR's Sam Thompson LF, .350, 21 HR's Joe DiMaggio CF, .329, 23 HR's The Pitching Staff STUNK! Nolan Ryan, had the best ERA on the team with a 3.95, so that's why we didn't make the playoffs. We had plenty of offense! Maybe next year! Major League Leader for BA is Kiki Cuyler, with a fantastic .380 average. Notables: Roger Hornsby batted .368 Sosa batted .276 and hit 59 Homers(led majors) Ruth batted .287, 39 HR's Boston won the World Series in 7 games against the Reds... Onto the next season Last edited by mauboy : 01-10-2004 at 07:55 PM. |

To start the 2nd season my ratings are now:
32/70 Contact 25/60 Power 12/20 Eye 43/60 Gap Now, the bad thing is... I got a $50,000 signing bonus, so I don't have any money to spend. So, I can only use my raw skills to get better. |

Colorado Wins the world series this year....
Patterson batted .249, 6 HR's League high BA was .374, and someone else with 58 HR's, again... Detriot failed to make the playoffs. Sorry if this dynasty is moving a little too fast.. I am not in the mood to type up a good, long reading dynasty like the last one. But once I get Mau's dynasty back, I'll start up the good reads again! It has been quite good season for Corey so far at the age 21.
In the first month, he had stats only some could dream of: .270, 11 Hr's, 8 Doubles, 27 RBI's The second month he cooled off a bit: .252 15 Hr's, 17 Doubles, 37 RBI's Then 9 days into the month of June, Corey got bumped up to AAA! The SAME day!!! Corey was released by the Detroit Tigers!!! The SAME day still!!! Corey got picked up by the Montreal Expos!! So Corey is now enjoying plenty of playing time with the Expos AAA team! |

And he did manage to improve slightly
He improved his BA to .228, and his homerun total to 9. He could still improve plenty, and without any money, I don't think that will be happening. He's played DH pretty much every single Minor League game he's ever played in. His defense is improving, and speed too. So one day he'll be a great all-around player.....Maybe |

For the first time in this game, ever, I've gotten a ratings boost.
Corey Patterson has been working out very hard in the gym and has improved his GAP rating by 10. That brings it up to 70, good job Corey! Keep it up. |

As the MLB approaches the playoffs, the minor league season is over, and I didn't get a September callup, so my season is over as well.
Patterson batted .222 in AAA, hitting 14 Homers and bringing in 51 guys to the plate. Not a bad 2 1/2 months I would have to say. Kansas City won the World Series this year.... McGuire led the league this year with 62 Homers... C. Hafey had perhaps the best ML season, ever: .392, 37 Homers, 152 RBI's... Montreal failed to make the playoffs this year, but the team is stacked!!! More info on the Expos, coming up. |

Corey Patterson's ratings are almost all maxed out..
65/70 in Contact 52/60 in Power 20/20 in Eye 70/70 in Gap This year could be his year to be called up, otherwise I'm looking forward to next year being a rookie all season, and possibly getting the ROY Award. |

In Triple A, I'm fighting Lou Brock for a spot in the Bigs.. I'm playing Right Field, while Brock is playing Left. I hope I can beat him out, he's so fast!!
Anyways.. The big boys that are already on the team would include: Mantle, Dimmagio(traded here), George Brett, Pudge Rodriguez, and McCovey.. The pitching staff has the likes of Koufax, Clemens, and Fritz Peterson... These 3 are the only SP's on the staff, the Expos run a 3 man rotation. Good thing I didn't choose to be a SP in this league, I'd be a long reliever, and still get rocked with the talent here. |

Less than 20 days into the season, I got shipped back and forth from AAA to the Active roster a total of 8 times in 3 days, and finally on the 20th day I got to stay a whole day with the Montreal Expos. So that's where I stand, I'm a bench-warmer, backing up DiMaggio. Life's good.

At the start of May, I found myself being shipped back and forth again. I'll never get comfortable. I want to be traded or stay somewhere! It's not my decision though. I bought some gloves today to help my Power a little bit(+2 power, +1 gap, -1 contact).

At the age of 22 in July, I find all my ratings to be MAXED out. I'm still on the AAA team. I was on the Active Roster for about 20 games this year so far, but haven't gotten one single At-bat. So I'm very dissappointed. At least I'll be able to sign a contract in 5 years, so I can buy myself a bat of some sort!!

My first game ever in the Bigs I went 0 for 1 with 2 walks. Which is very unlike me, since my Eye ratings are 20! I'll take that though. Good start for my career I must say.
I've been on the roster since the beginning of August. Haven't been sent down yet, so it's looking good for me now. I may get a chance to start next year!! The team needs to release some players, due to LARGE contracts coming this year. |

Corey started another game, and went 2 for 2. His BA is now .667! Best in the league. Best OBP too with .833! He's just a stud I tell ya.
The Expos sucked this year. With only about 10 games to go, we're still in the playoff hunt, but we have a record of 69-88 (6 games back, wow). The season ends, and we finish 3rd place, yet again, 6 games back, winning 70 games and losing 92. I really don't want to play in this division, everybody is a loser here. Not ONE single winning record team in this division. It'd be funny if St. Louis still won the World Series! I finished the season 3 for 6, and 4 walks!! Impressive .700 OBP, eh? Boston beat St Louis in the World Series in 7 games! The Cards almost became probably the only team ever to win the World Series with a losing record. Time for the next season(forgot to look at the overall stats). |

Corey gets to start on the Active Roster this year, but not as a starter. Maybe he'll get some pinch-hits, and hopefully he won't get sent down!! I'm already fully developed, so no need to spend time in the minors.
I'm also going to take advantage of not playing everyday by working out HARD in the gym, VERY HARD! Improve a little bit here and there. When I get called down though and have to play everyday, I'll have to lessen my load again though. Til then, I'm gettin stronger! |

Another somewhat dissappointing season for Corey. He was up and down from AAA and the Majors. He finished in the Minors, and was called up in September. Now his team is in playoff contention, and will most likely clinch as the Expos start the month 13 games in first place! Will I get some playoff experience? We shall see!! Time to bring that tough workout back too, since I won't see much playing time in the next month.
