I just started a career for myself on easy difficulty, to get an idea on how the game handles.
I was the 18th overall pick, courtesy of the Montreal Expos. My player's a super speedy CF, with high contact and eye ratings, but almost no power, and limited gap hitting. My first year in Single A, I perform decently, but get injured in May, leading to six months of hitting the bar for my "rehab" from a torn back muscle. I jacked my contact and eye ratings to 75% of the potential, leading to a surprise slot as the leadoff man in my second year in the game. At the end of April, I fall while fielding a fly ball, breaking my wrist. I need yet more surgery, and I'm out for the rest of the season. I completely max my potential while I rehab, but watch Montreal go to the World Series and win without me, beating the Yankees 4 games to 1. Now the REAL heartbreak: I don't get credit for a world championship, (though I was on the DL...I should get a ring, darn it!)AND I got stuck back in Triple A, despite having improved over my previous year's ratings! GRRR.... |
