Actually, I've been working on the next 3 chapters. It's not really just CoH that has contributed to the delay. I'm working through some personal things right now (nothing too serious) and my internet time as a whole has been cut way down. The story is still fresh in my head, but my time to write has been reduced. I'm not at all tired of it by any means, but my thoughts and energy have been spent on other things lately. I don't want to post something half-assed just to keep things going. I'd much rather take a short hiatus and come back fully energized. ETTNC (Estimated Time To Next Chapter): as soon as I can get about 6 uninterrupted hours to write.

Take your time sir, all of these " " are just in jest. You work out what you need to take care of in your life before returning to Davey's. The rest of us will try to be as patient as possible.

Agreed. I'll take quality over quantity any day of the week. Keep up the great work, Tib, but on your own terms.

Tib,
Just wondering if you think there might be a chapter or two ready before the holiday?

A chapter is ready, but it's being edited.

Tib,
Just writing to make sure everything is ok. Hoping that the story of DD is going to continue on. Please don't take this as pushing, just wanted to make sure you were going forward with the story

I am going forward. I am not abandoning Dave in any way. The problem is I'm focusing on other priorities right now and I don't have much time to write. I have two chapters done, and I have been simming way ahead in the hope of speeding up the story. I re-wrote a whole chapter and that took some time.

By God, I will finish this. You have all been very patient and I appreciate it, but family comes first. I'm not sure when the next posting will be. I am about three seasons ahead in the story right now. I want to tease you with bits of it, but that would be cruel. Let's just say Dave and a good friend part ways.

And you did it anyways, you sir are a sick twisted man.

On a more serious note. Good to hear about the story continuing. Family first, we will wait a little longer.

Dave didn't feel right sitting on the plane. Something just nagged at him. Then he heard it.

The right wing was engulfed in flames. Another explosion and Davey was headed to the roughest encounter of his life. The nose of the plane buckled like , well like a plane hitting a mountain. BOOOM. Dave never saw the light of day again.
Well I think that about wraps it up. Strange twist on the ending there but at least we have closure.

Works for me.

Seriously, please be patient. I'm working on a lot of things at once here. If it helps, one of my resolutions for 2006 is to finish Short Hop by my 40th birthday (April 4th).

Fantastic work, Tib, as usual. I finally got myself caught up. I really enjoy how the story is more than a statement of facts, but has little life lessons included. And the occassional cuss-filled rant is fun too!

My post wouldn't be complete without a listing of typos:

Chapter 47
Quote:
We lost the next four games, one for every day I was in the hospital. Dr. Martin Rinzler, our team physician, came in to for a final visit on day four.
Quote:
Chicago won seven in a row down the stretch, scoring 93 runs in those games, but lost the last five and faded from the already distant playoff picture, finishing 78-84 – one game back of John Grier’s resurgent Kansas City Knights. The Comanches were out of the playoffs but the Chicago’s other team, the Chiefs, led by Wes Schmidt, were the monsters of the Mutual League, destroying Atlanta and Phoenix on their way to the championship.
Did they really score 93 runs in 7 games? That's gotta be some kind of record!

Thanks for the editing job. I'll fix them asap. As for the 93 runs, they absolutely did. I'm not sure if it's a record, but it must be close.

I'm back!

Welcome back to the new, rejuvenated story of Dave "Short Hop" Driscoll. The batteries have been recharged and the seasons have been simmed and the stats have been organized and pored over and it's time for me to pick up the ball and run with it again.

Thanks to everyone who waited patiently (or imaptiently, for that matter). I hope it will be worth it. And now, Chapter 49: Showdown
