Promoted!!

After being picked 48th overall (2nd round) as a 2.5 star prospect (hard level), I went on to hit .264 with 9 HR and 65 RBI as a shortstop for Philadelphia's single-A team (my hometown team). I moved from hitting 7th to 2nd in the lineup. Surprisingly, I got a call inbetween seasons that I was promoted to Double-A. With a great workout program (posted on the board), I increased my ratings dramatically in the offseason. Through the middle of May, I am tearing up double-A, hitting .336 with 5 HR and 20 RBI. I also started 7th in the lineup and have moved to the #2 slot.

Both the triple-A shortstops and major league shortstops for Philly are barely over .200. If I continue this pace, I can see being a September call-up and getting some real cash to buy some new equipment, even if it means sitting the bench. I go to the bar every day, but only will drink if the owner, manager, or Steve Kuffrey are there. I have yet to get the owner to give me any money....cheap bastard. And if my mood starts going down, I'll drink 1 cocktail to get it back up and then leave. I have only been hungover maybe twice so far this season.

I think this game is awesome and has super potential. I hope Markus spends some time on it and makes it even better. For $55 between OOTP and ITP, I have been provided more entertainment for months than I could ever have gotten otherwise without spending 2 or 3 times the amount. Thanks, guys!!

5 Newcastle Black Ales usually bring me right to the breaking point.

Does 5 also get tips from the manager and Steve, and money from the owner??

Yes, from time to time. The important thing about 5 Newcastle Black Ales is that I am taken as far toward inebriation as I can go, but not beyond. When I ask for advice or money, I'll either get it or not, but at least I'm not jeopardizing my on-field performance.

I've received several (8-10) increases a year doing this, but I do it every day (which is tedious and without question the behavior of an alcoholic).

What is your charisma level? I think that has a lot to do with it too. And yeah...we're alcoholics, but the hell else are we going to do to pass the time?

One thing I failed to mention was how TERRIBLE the pitching was on my single-A team. We played under .400 baseball and at one point, every pitcher had an ERA over 6. A few of them got it down by the end of the season. My double-A team is over .500 and doing well

Usually at least 2. I've never used 3 Charisma; it seems like a dex point would serve me better.

That may be my problem too. I only have a 1 for charisma. I put the extra point to dexterity to be a great fielder. I've been fielding consistently at .983 for both single-A and double-AA.

Hell, you'll probably get there, but you're probably not going to get that Hugo Bosss endorsement.

Well, like I said, I'm tearing up double-A pitching and my contact is only 37 out of 60 and my fielding has been superb. I'm almost maxed out on everything else though.

On June 18th, while batting leadoff for the last month and hitting .331 with 5 HRs and 32 RBI, I get the call promoting me to triple-A. I am on my way....

In the final 2 months of the season, I was mostly used as a pinch hitter and only given a couple starts. I wound up with just 3 hits in 25 at-bats, but I did have a 2-out, bottom of the ninth, bases loaded game winning RBI as my Phillies went on to squander a 7-game lead to finish 1 game behind, but took the wildcard spot.

After eliminating the division winning Mets 3-1, I faced Colorado for the league championship. Losing the first game, We went on to sweep the next 4 to meet Anaheim (another wildcard team) for the World Championship.

After losing the first 2 games at home, we came back to tie the series at 2-2. The series went back and forth to a seventh game. It came down to 2 outs, bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded when I was used as a pinch-hitter having a slight hangover from the previous night drinking with the owner. A game winning RBI would not be in the cards as I struck out to send the game to extra innings. Fortunately, the Anaheim pitcher in the 10th inning had control problems and walked in the winning run with the bases loaded to hand Philadelphia and myself a World Championship ring!!!

Just finished the month of April of my new season with the big league club. I was looking for the chance to start, but it hasn't come yet. I only started one game in the month, going 0 for 5 with 2 k's. Used sparingly as a pinch hitter/runner, I have 2 hits in 10 at-bats while the starting shortstop is batting .223. I know I could do a better job if allowed to get into a rhythm. So goes life on a baseball bench....

What a difference an offseason can make. Last year, my Phillies won the World Series, taking Anaheim to the 7th game. As of the end of May, we are in last place 22-29, 11 games behind. The good news is that I had a decent month in the few at-bats I've had and increased my average to .261. Delgado, the starting shortstop, is batting .222. With an opportunity to start, I know I could help turn the season around and make another pennant run.

The season drags on...33-46, 15 games out as of July 1st. I am hitting .227 while Delgado is hitting an anemic .207. Our pitching is terrible this year, an ERA of 5.03. That's good for 22nd in the league. The hitting isn't much better, .256 team average which is only good for 25th in the league. One of the few bright spots is our power hitting 1st baseman who has jacked 33 HRs so far and is hitting .302.

Finally, an end to a very disappointing season. We went from first to worst. I, however, finished the season strong at .242 at a part-time player. With such a disappointing season, my worst fear came true. I received a phone call during the offseason from the GM. I was traded to Montreal. Not only was I traded, but I was sent down to triple-A. Time to start all over again
