Suggestion for in game

Not sure if you guys already have a plan for how each individual game will be played out ..... but here's a thought......

I think it would be good if it was somewhat like OOTP ..... where, if you want, you can play through every out and watch the game unfold..... but there should also be a "Simulate Button" where one of the options should be "Go to Next At Bat", and this of course would simulate the game until the next time your player comes up to the plate..... Then I think it would be really cool if you could play out your at bat pitch by pitch ...

You'd see what the situation was (maybe a close game in the later innings, a sacrifice bunt situation, a chance to swing for the fences, or just an ordinary at bat) and then you could choose how to go about the about ..... You could have choices like "Look for fastball", "Look for Curve ball", "Take a Pitch", "Try to pull the ball", "Try to hit the ball the other way", "Hit a ground ball", "Hit a flyball", "Swing for the Fences" so on and so on ... Also, you could get the signs from your coach for hit and run, steal, bunt etc... And you could not obey them if you wish, but then possibliy suffer the consequences for not listening to the coach.

For a pitcher it would be much of the same thing ... You could have the same pitch by pitch scenario where you choose what pitch to throw, what location, whether to listen to your catcher or not and other such strategic things.

I think this could be made really in depth and really great. For a game like this it would be especially good, as you would actually have a say in every single at bat (or as many as you choose, depending on if you play every game out) of your players career, and then you could have more of an impact on whether or not he becomes a Hall of Famer, or a goat......

Any comments?

Not obey the coach? I suppose if you're Albert Belle or Rickey Henderson you might get away with this, but I'd rather doubt that swinging away when the coach says bunt will get you into the Hall of Fame very quickly.

I like your suggestion of playing out the atbats though. I don't think you'd have my options though except possibly looking for a certain pitch. This would take a great deal of programming though for the AI to identify good pitchers pitches in certain situations...this would be like the "cat and mouse" games that we always hear the announcers talking about.

Yeah, so maybe not obeying the coach isn't a very feasible option...... But I think there is still some potential with it ...

I don't know anything about programming, but I do guess it would take quite a bit of intelligence for a computer pitcher to know what pitches to throw when.
