I know its early...

(Well, I know that the first edition is not yet done and all and so I know that any suggestion I have of the type I'm about to make may very well only be realistically considered in the not-so-near-future....or, perhaps this feature is already included...but, I'm excited about the potential of this kind of idea so I'll mention it)

In other threads I have discussed some views on player popularity ratings amoungst fans and the kinds of effects and considerations resulting from various levels of popularity and or fame. (I suggest the distinction between fame and popularity in that last sentence since there are sometimes very famously disliked players).

I think it would be fun to have a dimension of popularity and a dimension of fame. Acquiring a 'household nickname' status would be fun as well as trying for the popularity level of 'legendary' so that one could experience the flavor of being a future Hall of Famer before ever retiring. Seeing how the press, fans and fellow players react to and relate to my player as his popularity levels change would seem like a fun thing too.

Has anyone happened to come accross my other post on the topic of player popularity. Should I repost it here? How do I do a hyperlink?

I envision players being confronted with decisions which would involve estimating the trade-offs pros/cons of choosing to pursue fame and fan popularity at a potential cost of missing out on opportunities of being well-liked by teammates and or focusing on the development of certain skills.

If there already is a player popularity dimension to the game...does it allow for different popularities with respect to each member of one's own team? That is, could it be that I'd be a first baseman who gets along very well with the pitching staff but not anyone else on the offense...so I end up wishing i was spending my dugout time out in the bullpen instead?
Or, perhaps, I might end up becoming a diplomatic or peacemaker type: bridging gaps between other players on the team by uniquely holding an esteem or popularity with a certain player whom the rest of the team or part of the rest of the team does not like?

A couple of random curiousities of mine that I haven't seen addressed in the FAQ (my appologies if they have been addressed and I've failed to notice...if they have, feel free to not bother with answering the questions and I'd understand...it WOULD have to get annoying to have to repeatedly answer certain questions :-) :

Will my player get the choice to go explore the city nightlife after a game?

Will I get to choose off-season activities which could potentially influence future season dynamics?

Is it possible that my player could end up getting a book deal?

Can controversy result from my actions or comments?

Well, not only is it early in the world of ITP, but its also early here (for a Saturday). I probably should have waited until I've had more coffee to do this particular post. I hope that I've managed to write this post in a form that makes some degree of sense. If not, please feel free to let me know and I'll clarify.

Thanks,
OOTP5 is fantastic and I look forward to the eventual release of ITP!

Keep up the great work!

p.s. any chance that an ITP player could be portable on some level into OOTP?

yet one more p.s. having a player who ended up having his team retire his number could be pretty darned cool!!!
