Some wacky ideas
It's probably too late to make any suggestions that will make version 1.00 of the game, but I just wanted to put them down for the fun of it:
1) Cursed items - In most RPGs that I've seen or played, there are not only items that can help your character, there are items that can hurt them. For example, you could buy the famed "Wizard of Ozz" book that promises +10 to your defense rating. But alas, the author is not Ozzie Smith, but Ozzie CANSECO, so sorry but you get a -10 to your defensive rating. If all items are to be purchased, then cursed items should be relatively scare. But items picked up for free are sometimes worth less than what you paid for them... 2) Lifestyle choices - Something to spend money on besides books and equipment. It would affect the ability to find (and keep) a suitable spouse. The lifestyles would be something like these: * Bachelor pad - Livin' on the cheap is the only style available to those in the minors who didn't get a big bonus. Inexpensive, but the ladies are not impressed. However, if you can attract one at this stage, she'll probably stick with you for awhile. * Austere - This would be "normal" for most of us working class Joes. A decent house in a decent neighborhood with accoutrements to match. * Normal - "Normal", that is, for an athlete making a million or so dollars a year. Big house in a nice neighborhood and some nice luxury toys. Affordable for most major leaguers, but the higher paid ones may demand more comfort. * Comfortable - A small mansion by the lake in a posh suburb or the middle of nowhere. * Luxurious - Anything that anyone could ask for - a big house, a small staff, long & winding driveway... you've definitely made it if you can afford to live like this. But it costs the big bucks, and that money won't be available to buy that Gilded Glove +5. * Ostentatious - Only the mega-wealthy can afford to live like this for very long. The best of everything, and hobbies to match. A sure path to Chapter 11 if the money runs out. |

I don't know about using the words Lifestyle choices to describe it...that makes it sound like you are chosing members of the same sex.....
But yeah, Id definatley agree that it would be cool if you could chose your own living arrangements.

I like both ideas.
Along with #2 I'd say that cars almost have to be added someday. Bonus babies always buy cars.
