more ways to earn money, more stuff to buy

I think we can all agree that the game is not entirely realistic and is not intened to be. Books that cost millions of dollars, bats and gloves that dramatically improve your skills- this stuff is cool for an RPG but is not real-world stuff. So, I see no reason not to include more stuff that is not quite realistic.

Firstly would be some more ways to earn cash to buy stuff, especially while in the minors. I am not sure what to suggest, except maybe tournaments of various kinds- races, batting contests, fielding contests, pitching contensts- things where you can win money or win items.

The other thing is something I mentioned in another thread. More stuff to buy like hats, shirts, pants, belts, (heck maybe even socks) that add to your skills in some way. Maybe even stuff that boosts your base stats (strength, etc) or your potentials (raise your max by 5 or 10).

Other pitcher-specific stuff like a bat that adds to your bunting ability would be cool too.

Other ways to spend money may include paying a personal training or a hitting/pitching instructor. This could have an effect similar to a book. These guys might hang out at the bar, may show up at the stadium, or at the gym. This type of coaching might even be done by a willing vet on the team for free. You would have to establish a friendship with the vet first though and build it up to the point where he would be willing to spend the time with you.

You could borrow from the sims with the friendship meter. your character would have a relationship with each other player, the coaches and trainers, etc. My interacting in some way you would build this up. Obviously, the details would be different than sims, since this is primarily a text-based game, but the same concept could be used.
