Itp 2

I know this is probably a dead horse but I really think an ITP 2 should really be considered.
There is nothing else like it on the PC! I guess 2k series is a graphically superior verison but that thing burns my laptop up.
The simplicity of the play of ITP is what makes it unique.
Some improvements I would suggest are:

*OOTP12 capadability where it is easier to import the leaderboard if the
game can't import this capability directly from the lahman database.

*Players top performances

*More special equiptment or even special equiptment that is only available when you accomplish something like not just ratings based but when you reach a milestone.

*Relationship opitons....met a chick at a bar, marry her, pump a couple of kids out of her, she divorces you taking half your money and you kid grows up to be a pitcher and beans you in your last game!

*How about some different city backgrounds, from city to city or the minors to majors.

*More contract options such as trade demands, hold outs, contract incentives

*Be able to do something with your money besides equiptment maybe a house and the bigger your house the better your mood is or if your house has a gym you can work out more...

*Dare I say the HGH option ha ha

*Online playability

I don't know thier is just a lot of things that can be done. I am sure the issue probably is the game did not sell as good because if it was the money maker OOTP was I am sure there would of been 7 verisons of ITP since it first came out....but oh well a guy can dream.

Considering it took Markus 2 and a half years to port over to the new OOTP interface (from 6.5 to 2006), I doubt we'll see ITP2 any time soon, unless it's made compatible with OOTP 6.5.

Which would be rather cool anyway.

But I dunno. ITP just seems and feels like it should be a completely separate game from OOTP. I know with I think it was 6.5....maybe even ST2k3...where you could get married, and have kids and stuff.

I think I started a trend in here yesterday, reviving the idea of an ITP 2!

The game came out in 2004, how long is a company suppose to support a game? How many times do they need to come here and say that they don't have any plans right now as far as ITP 2 is concerned but who knows in the future we might make a new version. They have said this time and time before so its not that they don't care.

As far as caring only about money. Well if ootp is what puts food on the table then yeah they need to make sure they bring in as much money as possible. Everyone knows OOTP is the money maker, so you shouldn't expect them to just put ootp aside to make a new ITP. If they did that then they would loose most of there customers.

ITP 2 would be a huge undertaking because the first version had a lot of bugs. My guess is that it would be started from scratch with new interfaces and features. Trying to do that full time and ootp full time would make them both suffer.

All we can hope for is that ITP 2 is being worked on or at leasted planned. Hopefully OOTP 12 and IOOTP will have a very smooth release. If this happens then maybe info on ITP 2 could be released.

Just keep listing any ideas you wish for ITP 2 to have. The more support shown the better chance of a new version.

Heres my take on your ideas;

OOTP 12 or later compatibility;
This is a must, we need the ability to create any league in OOTP and have it work with ITP 2. Really it would be just a more personnel played out game.

Top performances;
The baseball card feature in the first version was great but could hold something so much more. With baseball cards becoming more popular in OOTP, having baseball cards for hitting milestones would be great. How about a 3000 hit card or a 60 homerun card. Cards like that could be a good way to keep track of top performances.

Special equipment;
An RPG must. While I wouldn't want the stats to be outrageous it would be a nice incentive to get special items when you reach milestones. Another idea could be when you reach 3000 hits you get a special piece of equipment that you can display in your trophy room or even in the Hall of Fame.

Relationship options;
I'll expand on this, storylines are needed in this game. Everything from cheating on your wife to cheating on the game should be included.

Different backgrounds;
It would be nice to have different mlb, minor league and home backgrounds. But it would be even better if modders could create team specific backgrounds, or city specific homes.

Contracts;
I agree with all those options being included. This is a sim of one players career so negotiating a contract is a big part of his career.

Money;
I would hope for an option to buy better equipment, better workout equipment, better agents, and better houses. Also it would be nice to use that money to cheat on the game or give money to charities to increase/decrease popularity.

HGH;
This needs to be in the game. As well as the suspensions and shorter career that can happen from it.

Great Ideas keep them coming.

Just kind of bumping this along
Now that OOTP 12 is done and is looking good maybe they can get onto the Backbone of OOTP Developments Inside the Park 2! hahaha! Another add to the feature list would be iITP, the simplicity of play of it i think would make it easier to convert to the ipad/iphone then iootp.

I have beat this horse before, and yet I find myself doing it again. I would love this game with the new system, you would have a ton more control over what kind of player you are with the much more detailed ratings that the game has now, different pitch ratings ect. more detailed defensive ratings and the like from the more current OOTP would be awesome. And yes, more contrat options would be great too.

The chances of seeing a stand alone ITP are almost 0

The very best chance is for an ITP module to be released as kind of a 'DLC' for OOTP 14.
I would say chances of that are less than 5% but it is at least something.

If there was a thread started in the main OOTP forum and enough people voiced their support maybe Markus would at least finally give us an answer.
Telling us there is no way in hell he would ever consider ITP ever again would be preferable than always holding out that small hope.

I've said this before, and I'll say this again:

The problem is, Markus himself probably doesn't know for 100% sure whether he will or not. It's a side project that it's all too easy to keep putting to the side, especially with more important projects (and life in general) getting in the way.

I remember having bought this game all those years ago. I enjoyed it, but it was buggy and essentially unfinished so I awaited the next version...which never came. I'd still love to play as a player (as ITP was about doing).

I'd say that the best hope for that would be a "player" mode inside OOTP. One can choose to be a GM, manager, or both...so adding a "player" mode should be feasible, though obviously would take them more work than the existing modes.

I already kinda sorta do it, by putting myself in my OOTP game (and I can look like myself since the thread on creating one's own facegens showed me it was easy), but obviously I can't control how my player behaves beyond setting the personality variables.

We can still fight the good fight for ITP 2.
