anyone else have this problem?

I can't get past the opening screen that says start new career,load new career etc...as soon as i click on start new career it freezes and I have to re-start my computer. I downloaded DX ver 9.0, i have windows 98. I tried running OOTP5 and I had no problem. I also tried the toggle thing that someone suggested earlier and I had no success. Any other ideas how to get this game to work.

well with win98 anything you install is a crap shoot. You should upgrade(easier said the done I know). It's almost 2004 and people using an OS thats 6 years old is going to have huge issues with software.

Really?!? I haven't had any problem playing the game (or any others, including Star Wars: KOTR, Need For Speed: Underground, XIII, and the Call of Duty demo).

Actually, I have two computers at home and have Win98 installed on the gaming PC and only OOTP installed on the XP machine.

Not sure anything of these would work, but did you defrag your hard drive? uninstall and reinstall ITP? turn off sounds and disable Direct 3D mode?

How long do you want before determining the game has frozen? My first couple loads took a bit of time before finally starting... if you have an antivirus program running, disable it before starting ITP.
