Actually, the same thing happened to me, only my contract was much less. But I was still capable of parking 25-30 HR. I was signed by Colorado at age 31 to a three year deal. They stick me in AAA, I pinch hit in three games, and they release me.
I am currently licking George Steinbrenner's boots, graciously accepting a $350,000 contract, so I can play DH/2B for the Yankees. Surprisingly, his fine-grain leather tastes pretty good. |

Exactly. And George has cleaner boots than ever. It's a classic symbiotic relationship.
Frankly, it's kind of fun having to claw my way back onto a team a la Jay Bell in 2003. I could just be watching the seasons pass with no intervention. But the more things you have to do in your career, the better. |

I think AI do that in OOTP too? Releasing decent players instead of trying to trade them away? Also OOTP AI never know to pick up a good released player right away.
