Possibilities of improving sim speed?
Did this game use the same simulation engine as OOTP5?
In OOTP, every game log must be accurate to a point at least for multiple player leagues. However, in a game like ITP, I think it's only essential for games our main character is in? It's not like we actually know the ratings/talents for all the other players, so the simulation engine must be able to slim down quite a bit with shortcuts here and there. Lots of ancient baseball games on ancient computers can already generate box scores that look reasonable enough. Perhaps that's what this game should do instead of a OOTP-like sim. Basically, speed is essential for games of this scale. I think the game could be quite more enjoyable with faster sims, and options like "sim till the next game", "sim till you finish the book", or "sim till the last day of the bid". Or just a plain "sim to date XXX".

I tried on two different computers. Fine on one, very slow on another.
The point is, I would be willing to wait for accurate results on OOTP, because I do care about every player and every team. I do not want to sacrifice the complicated relationships between stats and ratings for speed. However, ITP is just a small RPG. Why would I care how a fighter in the other dungeon chopped down a troll while I'm busy throwing fireballs at goblins? At most, some easy simulation telling me the fighter killed 3 trolls and lost 20 HP would be enough, instead of the whole detailed story.

Or perhaps it's the difference in definition of "extremly fast"?
For the simple game structure right now, I'd even consider it more enjoyable if it forget all about the games outside the one you're in, and become a Palm OS game that can be finished in an hour if all games simmed. The internet bidding and drinking part does fit in with those kind of games.

For small games like this, I think 80 second would be slow even for a season. At most a second a day. There is not much to explore, and without good speed, it's not really replayable for me.

For me, there's a bit of hesitation with the 'Finishing Week' dialog box that pops up. Then again, when the advancement towards the next year comes around...I end up waiting quite awhile for it to run it's cycle.
