Curious
I bought the Wonderboy bat during the last week of the season. The next season I hit UNDER 300 for the first time in my career and I'm only 27. Shouldn't I have done a little better than that? I was 4th in batting average before the Wonderboy.

The exact same thing happened to me, after acquiring Wonderboy I was looking forward to a monster year. The result: average actually dipping from about .300 to .260 range and homers holding steady at about 30. But that seems to track with results from OOTP5 where your abilities may not necessarily match results for any given year; Wonderboy gives plusses, but it doesn't guarantee performance. I think it's fine - part of the game.

I haven't been able to afford those bats yet, but given that ITP is based on the OOTP engine, and given that OOTP is known for its streaks and statistical variance, isn't the most likely answer that you simply, coincidentally, had a bad year right after buying the bat?
EDIT> Or, Orrie could say exactly what I said, only 2 minutes sooner, and make me look foolish. ![]()
