Continuing as Manager after you retire

you should be able to become a manager after you retire, work your way up the ladder there from single A, and while you are doing this, use something similar to the manager mode ootp 5 has to be able to meet ladies and things like that.

I think you should be able to do more than to just take a lady home and "have fun." You should be able to have a life with one. I like this game, but i believe it needs a lot of work to become realistic.

In order to make the lasting appeal higher, i do think you should be able to become a manager after you retire.

Yes that would be cool BUT it takes the whole idea of '' INSIDE THE PARK '' away

I disagree. As a manager, you are continuing your career "inside the park."

The one thing i do have to say about my idea is that it could be overlapping ootp 5 a little.

I don't think we will see it in ITP1 or ITP2, but as it starts to become pretty realistic, they will need more elements to place in the game in order to keep the new features coming. I think we have a chance to see it down the line. I wouldn't worry about it now, like you said, because there are too many aspects of the game that need refinement, but down the road, it could become available.

I'd like that option as well, with some sort of recognition of the prominence of your career as a player built in -- like higher paychecks or better job offers as a manager if your player was particularily good.

Heres an idea.
OOTP6 or 7 and ITP2 should be somewhat compatible. After you complete your career in ITP2, OOTP6 or 7 allows you to import the league and let you go on as manager

That would be great, but would require some work, I'd suggest posting on the OOTP forums and see if its possible.

I second O-Man's idea; it makes a lot of sense to use a pre-existing title's main focus as well as creates a sense of continuity in a ballplayer's career. You don't *have* to continue as a manager, but at least have the option.

If you want the game to be realistic, you first need to eliminate the "Roy Hobbs" wonder bats that you can buy, along with the magic gloves and slippers..uh...shoes....I look at OOTP as a real baseball game sim...this is Final Fantasy Baseball, which is fun in and of itself, but don't expect too much from it by trying to add a sense of realism....

But if you retire and become a manager woldnt that just be ootp??? I like the idea of importing your players stats and skills into ootp, then instead of starting out as a no name manager in ootp you can already have the name of "decent manager" or what not. Anyone understanding what im saying, you know that meter in ootp that judges you by experience???

Someone should post these ideas in the Feature Suggestions area. Or move the thread there, whichever, so that Markus & Co. see it - it sounds like a cool idea.

What if they can code an import of an ITP league into OOTP? Then you could have the "manager mode".

ITP leagues are easily "imported" into OOTP5 already. Just copy your ITP league into your OOTP directory. Then do a normal Load league from within OOTP5 and choose the copied ITP league. The only thing that doesn't import is your player's talent, but if you've retired that won't really matter (and you can always use the editor to adjust the talent levels).
