When pitching it would be nice to know if the batter you are facing bats left or right handed. If there is a man on second and the batter is left handed you want to pitch it on the outside part of the plate to try to force a ground ball to the SS or 3B, if he is right handed you want to pitch it to him on the inside of the plate. Of course by doing this, if you didn't already know, it keeps the runner on 2nd base from advancing.
