Recipe for good pitching?

I've played a number of careers with hitters so far, and I'm pretty confident in my ability to create offensive stars, but I haven't really had any luck with pitchers yet. Whether I'm trying to create a lights-out reliever or a top of the rotation starter, I just can't seem to do better than mediocre.

So now I'm curious as to what recipes have been successful for other people in the past. Post workouts, RPG point allocations, pitch selections, anything that helped you create a successful pitcher.

Pitching workouts will be differant.
You must toss in long toss and more rotation workouts....balanced.
I am just starting a pitcher and after two seasons I am starting in AAA.
I have four pitches(Read alot of books)...and I only started with the default since I wanted more points for other stuff.
Dexterity is a good stat to invest in....do it and enjoy the outcomes...LOL.
Just my 2 cents
