Illegal Number of Players Error
Version: 2.0.2.53
PC/MAC: PC What were you doing? Trying to auto-play my league (using Matter 2003's World of Baseball v 1.0 universe package) What happened? When I arrived at a certain date within the league (1-19-07), I received an error "Edinburg has an illegal number of players on the active roster (0)" Reproducible? Yes Problem occurs with other leagues? No I have seen this error a few times before in this forum, and it has been marked as 'fixed' with the 2.0.2 patch (TT#3151). However, it does not appear to be fixed. I have tried the following solutions to fix this error (all with the most recent patch installed), but to no avail: --allowing incomplete rosters (ghost players) for all minor leagues --clearing all rosters for all teams in offending league, deleting all free agents, and filling the rosters for those teams with newly generated players --ran computer manager on all teams in the offending league --deleting the offending league The last item mentioned above should have worked, but did not. I still received the same error on the same date no matter what I tried. Please help! |

Has this been looked at? I'm now having this problem after contraction in an online league conversion, which pretty much spells DEATH for the online league if we get to this point.
I seem to have caught it in testing, but it'd be nice to know this was squelched permanently for the next/final patch. My scenario is that we contracted, and a team from the other sub league moved over to take the place of one of the contracted teams. I manually moved players from Team X to Team Y (combined these two teams, essentially), then deleted Team X (and all affiliates). I then moved Team Z from one sub league to the other, and renamed it to match the city name of the previous Team X. The game seems to be seeing the old Team X, since Team Z has a full Pro roster. I should mention, that yes, I am running the game with Ghost Players. edit: May've found the problem. Will report back... Last edited by enuttage : 07-07-2007 at 10:54 AM. |

Illegal Number of Players Error
I'm using 2.0.2.53 also an incurred the same error just after the end of March updates.
I'm playing a solitaire league and a AAA team (St.Paul for Milwaukee) who was managered by the computer tuned up the error saying it was 6 over the limit. After changing to Commish mode and running AI on all minor teams for Milwaukee the number posted on the error then went down to 5. I then Retired a number of players from their Minor League system (9 in total), ran AI again and the same problem occurred = St, Paul with an illegal number players on the active roster" . I also reset the allowed number of players on all AAA teams to 35 & ran AI with no luck. Please don't tell me I'm stuck |

Ok. Since the above post , I restored the league back from a backup to the beginning of March and the same exact error occurred again when the date was advanced past April 1.

Illegal Number of Players Error
Ok. Since the last (above notice) I did a workaround of sorts by creating a new manger for Parent team (Milwaukee) and attacked the team culprits (st. Paul) by making some roster maneuvers making sure i cleared down the count on all rosters. When I advanced on the magic date of April 1 ....another Minor league team pops up with the same error message " ..has an illegal number of players on the active roster" - This time however the number is (0).
This is crazy. because the crash is always occurring on the same date. I'm reluctant to go further back into my backups to find a solution. Could this problem been latent from several seasons ago??? I should note that I'm in year 2011 from a solo league that began from 2004 stats. I originally started out from version 6.5 I believe. I do not play in commissioner role, nor is there any mods to the game. The PC did not crash nor was a plug pulled in order to avoid saving a session or during a simulation update. |

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...milies/pbj.gif ![]() I found a solution (i hope) I went leage setup screen-rules and set the Active Roster Size for all minor league teams to 45. It had been previuosly set to "No limit". The problem has stopped and life goes on. I noticed prior to the change that all rosters had an apparent 25 player limit. Because this is my first full season under the 2007 version of the game I would likely attribute it to the import numbers allowed from the previous 6.5 version. Hope this helps somebody. It's been a while, but I believe I got around it by swithcing to the commisssioner mode, and reviewing each roster (Minors too).
Each one that that was over the limit I paired down - removed players -manually. |
