Importing Historical Player

A historical player imported from the "draft pool" screen comes into the league as a free agent, no option to put him in the actual draft. The rules don't clearly address this, so perhaps it's just no longer an option to import into the ammy draft. If so, the option button should be removed from the draft pool screen.

Go to advanced editing

Figures I could figure this out but can't get Cocoa Laboy to show up in my amateur draft, lol.

But seriously... how can someone like me get attention on this issue? I must be the only one to stumble on this problem, since none of the regular visitors here have been able to easily answer it: There is no working "import historical player to ammy draft option" in OOTP2007. Yes there is a button for it, no it doesn't work as expected (it dumps the guy in the free agent pool), and what do I do about it?

Is this even a tech support issue? Maybe the new game wasn't really meant to have this 6.5 feature - although it sure looks like it was. My problem as a on-line league commissioner is that I have 19 other guys who bought the game based on my desire to move from 6.5, and now the one feature most necessary for our type of league (importing historical amateurs) is MIA.

I've gotten some suggestions on a work-around, but before I invest a ton of hours exploring those... can one of the tech forum moderators toss me a bone on this one?

Sorry, whizkid. This is probably my fault for repeatedly bumping you. Bumping is contraindicated down here in the Tech Support section of the forum. Officially, issues here are dealt with from oldest to youngest, so every time I post in your thread I'm moving you further away from being looked at.

It's been a month since I posted this problem, and my league has been on hold the whole while. No acknowledgement of my plight, no suggestions, problem not even logged.

I know this forum (and the other one I posted this in) are moderated by volunteers, so I hate to complain, but I'm folding up my league in disgust. I moved us to OOTP2007 because of the new features which looked like they'd make my life easier. I did not expect to give up a simple feature of the old program, without which my league concept becomes impossible to sustain. I should have stayed with 6.5 and not talked a bunch of guys into the new game, apparently.

Has OOTP really evolved into a program that we have no one to turn to but each other, when some feature clearly does not work? Very distressing.

Hi there.

I'm very sorry your issue has sat here for so long without a response.

Us volunteers are a little on the burnt-out side right now! That's not an excuse, though, but let's see if we can make some progress, if you're still around after all this time...

I was actually looking at this issue separately from your thread, and you're right. There is not currently a way to import an historical player and have him be draft-eligible.

I have logged this as TT # 3836. Hopefully Markus can take a look at this!

I do appreciate the response; I know this feature wasn't something a lot of on-line commissioners utilized, but if Markus does get a chance to fix it I might be able to coax most of my league members back. The majority have urged me to restart the season in OOTP 6.5, and pretend OOTP2007 never happened. I probably won't go that route, because I hate the idea of negating two and a half months of league history. But my league looks eternally dead without this fix. The time commitment to manually alter guys already in the draft, to change their ratings to match historical guys, is something I'm just not up for.

This has actually been listed as being back in the game with the next patch!

We haven't seen the build with this in there yet, but I'll let you know what happens!

Could you import a Free-Agent List to the Draft Pool because I'm at the Amatur Draft and would like to add the Free-Agent list from 1997,1994 and 70,80,90 and 2000 Best of Teams League into the Draft Pool or just into my league?

Did this ever get resolved for OOTP8? I am in round 8 of my inaugral draft, and had to import a player that was missing from the draft pool. The import was successful, but the player is no where to be found. Using the 'search' function, the player is there, with a no team designation; however, he is not the the draft pool, and he is not in the list of free agents. Where is he?
