Filters not working

I'm trying to weed out free agent pitchers and certain filters are not working. I've only tested a few as this is a talent-only league.

I can verify that the age filter is working as is, but I can't get stuff potential, movement potential, or control potential to work as potential filters. Whenever I use any of those three (individually and together) as a criteria nothing comes up when something should. Just checking and the batting potentials aren't working either.

As an example, if I choose "CON Potential Is At Least 3" all players are discarded when a number of them should stick around.

The ratings range for potentials in this league is 2-8 if that helps.

Here's how i get it to work- change your and's to or's

example-

Age is between 25 and 30
or stuff potential is at least (enter your # here)
or control potential is at least (enter your # here)
or movement potential is at least (enter your # here)

click ok and you have a set of players within that criteria. hope that helps.

Could you please give us the specific criteria in your filter? I think that would help us out here.

Thanks!

Actually the language can be tricky here-

setting an age parameter and using "and" for more than one filter or group of filters, ie. control, stuff, and movement forces the search to one specific player, while using "or" produces a set group of players for the search.

I understand how the filters work. I've been playing CM/FM for years now.

Hmmm.. how is..

.. not specific enough? I'm ONLY using "CON Potential > 3" as the criteria and it's weeding EVERYTHING out even though there are a bunch of players with 4's and 5's.

Alright, I did a little test in a solo league of mine. The potential filters are working in that league.

This would leave me to believe that the problem arises with leagues that have actual ratings hidden (like the league I mentioned in the first post). IMO you should still be able to use potentials as criteria, since you can see them.

Actually, I believe this is an offshoot of a bug I could have sworn someone logged a long time ago (but, of course, I couldn't find it in the system) where none of the Potential filters work properly if you have the Actual/Potential ratings scales set differently. The filter system only seems to understand the Actual Ratings scale when setting up a filter (e.g., if a league has Actual Ratings of 1-20, and Potential Ratings of 1-10, you need to filter for Contact Potential > 18 to see players whose Contact Potential is 9/10 or better).

That the Potential Filters are absolutely useless when you have no Actual Ratings displayed is a wrinkle I hadn't thought of before, but a logical enough extension of the problem.

Anyway, logged now as TT#3843.

I believe I am seeing the same thing in my solo league. It is a Potential Ratings only fictional league. Potential Ratings are set to 1-5, with actual talent ratings OFF.

If I go to the Free Agent lists and want to sort for specific potential criteria(ex. Stuff Potential > 2,) then all names disappear completely off the list, even though there are plenty of pitchers that fit the criteria. If I then go to the league set-up area, and turn Actual Ratings back on, then return to the FA listing, it is properly showing all pitchers with Stuff Potential > 2.

I'm glad I found this work-around in this thread, but hope it can be fixed for this spring's game.

I'm also having trouble using the statistics --- sortable stats area. But I will search these boards for an answer before posting on that topic. By the way, I have checked all possible things that could cause the stats not to show up.

A follow up to the end of my previous post. My sortable stats are working correctly now. The problem occurred right before the start of a new season. Apparently, during a certain period of time, before new stats are accruing for the new season, no stats(even career stats or last years stats) are available in the sortable stats area. At least in my league, but this is no problem at all. Just glad it's working.
