Re-createable Crash to Desktop

1st post, has to be a bug report. :-)

Love the game!

Crash to Desktop.

MLB --> Reports --> Trading Block --> Left Click and "Crash" (See big honkin image below)

If I do the same and right click and select "Open Player Profile". So opening the HTML player card causes the crash. It is not unique to the Trading Block and is re-createable every time from and Report with player links in them.

Steps to mitigate (no effect):

1. Disable Av (McAfee Ent 7.1)
2. Disable all other running user processes
3. Updated Direct X
4. All windows updates and patches installed

Which version of OOTP are you using?

So any attempts to open the HTML player card crash the game for you? Presumably, you can open the in-game player profile without trouble? Do you have FaceGen enabled? If so, could you try disabling it and attempting to repeat the crash?

The most up to date, 8.0.0.13. Dang, I knew I missed some info.

In-game profile works fine, HTML one crashes consistently.

OK. I disabled facegen, restarted the game, and the crash occurred as normal.

Firefox. 2.0.0.11

Hmmm... OK, let's change that and test...

Switched default to IE 6 and ensured reports opened in default browser opened in IE.

Tested and still crashed to desktop.

Just to be sure, could you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Occasionally, we see issues during installation that we can't otherwise work out. I haven't seen any other reports of problems such as this, so that would be my next suggestion.

Uninstalled and reinstalled. Reboot and retry.

Same crash to desktop.

There is one other thread thread that seems quite similar thus far.

Are you using the quick-start MLB bundled with the game?

No, I used the "New Major League Game" Option.

Created a quick start league and another "New Major League Game" and both do not crash with the HTML report issue.

Database issue? Guess I will start over with a new league.

Hrm. Did you do anything unusual with your original saved game? Any editing?

Okay, Nutlaw. My first shot at this last night, using the Create New Major League option (which I still think is suspect as causal), didn't yield a problem in my first preview. However, I didn't roll into the season yet and check it in-progress. I'd like to do that, or someone can earlier if they're inclined.

I have the same problem. It's also a new system, about 1,5 months or so. Anyone found out what might be the problem and how to avoid it?

I have the exact same problems as Kwoolsey. I also have a pretty new system, about 1.5 months or so. Have anyone found a solution to this bug yet?

Just noticed that it only happens to me when I click something in the transaction log for my team. Doesn't happen when I click a name in a box score.

Think I posted my last msg twice. Any moderator is welcome to remove one of them.

I am also having CTD's when trying to view HTML reports on players.

Vista w/all latest updates
OOTP 8 8.0.0.13
default browser = IE 7

I created my league using the Quickstart. I did not have this problem until after I completed the midseason draft. Haven't tested all possible scenarios, but for me it seems to happen only when I click on players who are in my Minor leagues (including those who are on my 40 man roster). Players on my Active roster are not affected.

encountered problem again clicking on flag icon on non-html player page (no idea where it goes but i didn't recognize the flag and was curious) in a quickstart game...again...I am on a mac...this seems to be an issue that requires some immediate attention...are devs working on it?...my present workaround is to not click on anything out of curiousity...and that's rather annoying

For me it's only when I make a minor league status report and then click a name. Should be easy enough for someone to check. I am playing a quick start league where I released and re-drafted all the players.

It means he's logged the bug in the tracking system for examination; that'd be its reference number.
