BZ 1549: Injury news item and game info doesn't match
As you will see, this news item states that Ken Boyer suffered a career ending injury in the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The box score confirms that it was in a collision at a base, and that he was substituted by Bob Lillis in the 6th inning. ![]() ![]() However, the box score does not show this as a substitution in the 6th inning, in fact the nearest possible event would have been two batters before the end of the inning. Clearly not that serious an injury. ![]() In fact, the substitution is listed at the beginning of the 7th inning. ![]() Last edited by Sdpm100 : 06-24-2008 at 09:19 AM. |

Did Lillis bat in the bottom of the 6th?
If he did, he should be a Pinch Hitter. I'm just trying to think if it's possible to make a substitution whilst batting without it coming up as PH on the substitution screen.

I got it into my head that the news article said it was a collision at third base, but it doesn't say that. Boyer actually batted in the lower 6th, and it must have been the fielder's choice out where he picked up the injury. So the only thing wrong is that the Lillis substitution should be listed in the 7th in the box score. Sorry for this, I should look more carefully. ![]() |

It should be listed under the 7th because in real-life you wouldn't make the substitution there and then, because you don't know if you're going to bat round, but in OOTP you have to make the substitution at that very point, so he was substituted for in the 6th inning.
I'll log that as a feature request.

Logged as a feature request as BZ 1549. Either to allow delayed substitutions or to put substitutions that occur in an inning that have no material effect on the game to be noted as occuring in the next inning.
