It started out as a little thing....post the logos I made, up on Photobucket so fellow ootp'ers could see them and it was FREE!! Can't beat that, huh? I never really paid attention to monthly hits or bandwidth because I never really thought it was going to ever be a problem.

I started making some college logos off and on and was putting them up and was also putting up little things I had made in some of the leagues I am in, well the monthly hits and bandwidth have become a problem. Really....just in the last couple of months. My month ends on the 23rd and on January 23rd, it was around 374,000 hits and my bandwidth was at about 84%. Here's a screenshot in the last hour and in 6 days it already has 105,000 hits and my bandwidth is already at 50%. From what I can tell, from googling truthserum607, the only culprit I can see is people, non-ootp'ers, posting some of them on their myspace and a few smatterings on some other sites.

I don't really know much about how it works, but it looks like anybody that hits on their myspace, hits on my monthly hits and hits on my bandwidth. So, I can, either let it run out so nothing works or pay the 25 bucks.....or just leave it and start another bucket, to put my logos up. Who knew it would snowball, like this...

That's a great site you have there, Truthserum. I noticed you had some NFL logos converted into your excellent style (like the Jets, Saints. Giants). Have you done the whole set somewhere?

That would be wonderful if you had. Or would be extra-wonderful if you could!

The only NFL logos ones I have made, are just from a couple of requests on the site. I can make up a set, in the next couple of weeks, if it is something you think you might want to use for something.

Most of those logos are the ones I made last June for the OOTPB6 set. They've just been sitting there since....but the bandwidth problem has really surged in the last couple of months. Not really sure what to do about it besides just ponying up 25 bucks or just starting up another photobucket. If anybody knows what I can do or have any input into Photobucket bandwidth, I'd sure appreciate any input/advice.

I was thinking about putting together a league file based around the NFL teams once the new version comes out - those logos would be fantastic. If it will take too much time, don't worry about it though!

I'd certainly donate a few bucks to keep your photobucket up - it would only take 10 guys putting in $2-3 dollars and that would keep it going, right?

This is probably not the best solution, but can't you set up a password to view your pictures on Photobucket? You could just put the password in your Sig so only people that are here can access it. I don't know if this would fix the current issue you're having though.

That is, in all likelihood, the source of your bandwidth trouble. Rather than people downloading the logos to their site, they're hotlinking from your site. That means that every time a logo is viewed, it uses up your bandwidth rather than theirs. With the profusion of logos on your site it's no wonder it gets used up.

I don't know whether it'll do any good or not, but you can request users not to use the logo from your site, but to download them to their site. If that doesn't work I'm afraid password protection is the only way to go.

In the "Change album settings" menu, of your account info, you can uncheck the "Display Tag" box and your pic will no longer be linkable, I believe. Don't quote me on that though. Try that and see if it makes a difference. Hopefully it does, though it may not stop the bandwidth issue you're currently having.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I wasn't positive if that was what the problem was, so thanks for clearing that up, also.

It wasn't a monetary thing, more like a principle thing. I thought photobucket was pretty cool.....man, we could upload our logos onto photobucket and people could check them out or use them....and it was free.....and then.....DOH!! out 25 bucks.

I'm sitting at 93% today, with 2 weeks left in my month, so I just ponied up the 25 bucks, so I don't have bandwidth problems, if I want to hotlink my own stuff.
