A Fresh League With Some Unusual Nicks
Need some help on these, if anyone is willing, able, and feeling kind and creative. One day, I might be able to duplicate the output of some of you talented folks here, but it doesn't appear to be 'in the blood'. My sister, ironically, is a successful, well-paid graphic artist.
![]() Anyway... These are from my World Baseball Alliance league, which I hope to release as a quick start at some point in the near future. I've used the 36 (I already have logos for Berlin, Buenos Aires, and Toronto) most-populated countries in the world, and then taken the most populous city from each country to represent in the highest league level. Each team has a nick based on some part of the cities history. They are, in alphabetical order... Addis Ababa Lions (DONE - justafan) Algiers Corsairs (DONE - justafan) Bangkok Kings (DONE - justafan) Bogotá Scholars (DONE - justafan) Cairo Eagles (DONE - justafan) Cape Town Seven Stars (DONE - justafan) Dar es Salaam Peacemakers (DONE - justafan) Dhaka Cyclones (DONE - justafan) Ho Chi Minh City Foresters (DONE - justafan) Istanbul Golden Horns (DONE - justafan) Jakarta Jaya Raya (DONE - justafan) Karachi Lights (DONE - justafan) Khartoum Elephants (DONE - justafan) Kiev Angels (DONE - justafan) Kinshasa Rapids (DONE - justafan) Lagos Islanders (DONE - justafan) London Ravens (DONE - justafan) Madrid Black Vultures (DONE - justafan) Manila Mangroves (DONE - justafan) Mexico City Aztecs (DONE - justafan) Moscow Dark Riders (DONE - justafan) Mumbai Stars (DONE - justafan) Nairobi Green Sox (DONE - justafan) New York Metropolitans (DONE - justafan) Paris Revolutionaries (DONE - justafan) Rome Wolves (DONE - justafan) Seoul Capitals (DONE - justafan) Shanghai Mariners (preferably not the Seattle colors) (DONE - justafan) São Paulo Bandeirantes (DONE - justafan) Tehran Mountaineers (DONE - justafan) Tokyo Pacifics (DONE - justafan) Warsaw Citadels (DONE - justafan) Yangon Monsoons (DONE - justafan) Last edited by enuttage : 09-17-2007 at 10:19 AM. |

My only further request, before you get too far along, is if you might be able to lighten up the shadow just a tad. Keep in mind that I'm in a REALLY bright sunlit room right now, so that may be why I'm seeing them as darker. And if you think they're fine, then let 'em be. I'm just really thankful you've done these. They really look super slick. |

Stadium effects are (roughly) based on elevation of each city, so naturally, Mexico City (7,349 ft.), Bogotá (8,661 ft.) and Tehran (~3,900) are bigger hitter's parks, vs. most cities, which are often port cities (which is how they often got so big and important to begin with). Weather is adjusted to any OOTP in-game capabilities, but I'll be going back and filling in the gaps for at least the Pro level teams. There are a full five levels of minor leagues. Each lower level is represented by the next largest city of each country in the league. So in the U.S. it would be L.A., Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, and Phoenix. Mexico (non-Mexico City DMA) would be Guadalajara, Puebla, Monterrey, Tijuana, and Ciudad Juárez...and so on. My first release will probably be without real stadia and nicknames for the minor league levels. But hopefully, I'll slowly add all of these as well. For now, all the financials will be the default. I did an experiment a little while back with adjusting financials to be relative to the dollar (I know it was culture-centric, but it was also real easy to find the info ), but it didn't end so well, so I left it to the end user to adjust these to their liking.I have the incoming player pool at 90% foreign, with the league based in the U.S. I figured that'd give a pretty wide variety of players from the appropriate baseball-player-producing countries. I'm actually thinking of releasing a spreadsheet or other quick reference sheet that includes all the vitals on the world's largest cities for public use here. I know I keep going back and re-using a lot of the info, and I know there are others that dig on the global league setups as well. Could be a lot easier than using disparate sources and might save players a bunch of time, including me, the next time 'round. ![]() I figure I could include: City Country Population Weather Precipitation Primary spectator sporting venue (non-automobile) Elevation GDP (if available) Currency value vs. U.S. Dollar (percentage positive or negative and real numeral) Last edited by enuttage : 09-14-2007 at 05:36 PM. |

Man, do whatever you like. I think they're fantastic either way. I think some of the darker colored backgrounds might look better without the bevel, but I dig the depth the bevel lends to it also.
