OOTP 9 quickstart- minor league thread
One of the minor leagues for the OOTP 9 quickstart will be the Golden Horseshoe League, based in Ontario, Canada.
Cities: Ajax Brampton Brantford Guelph Hamilton Keswick Kitchener Mississauga Oshawa Peterborough Pickering St. Catharines Thornhill Vaughan Uxbridge Welland I need a clever logo for each team, and uniforms. Think 1950's-60's, and be simple with the uniforms. City name in a script would be great (like the Dodgers are). No team names or colors have been selected yet. Try to use the city name. If you want to be inventive, come up with your own. If someone already comes up with a team uniform, you can still offer your own up. We'll hash out which one to select. The team logos are on target, and excellent!
I do not care for the league logo much. Could you give it another shot? Maybe more red, and less blue? Hmm, I'll have to research the Canadian flag from that era. How do other people like the league logo? Last edited by Raidergoo : 04-30-2008 at 09:42 AM. |

Loved the team logos (with the baseball concept), but didn't like the league logo. Hard to say why. I agree that it could use more red, but I also didn't like the black - too much like a pen & ink drawing.

The horseshoe logo reminds me of a true World War II story that I read. A German U-Boat with a horseshoe logo, similar to the one above, was damaged & eventually sunk by the Allies. Most of the crew was rescued, and the logo of the sinking ship was also a horseshoe - but with the ends facing up instead of down.
The sinking ship captain commented to the sub skipper that the sub's horseshoe was upside down and all the luck had run out!

While it is good to keep the team logos simple, would it not be beneficial to have the logos distinct from one another? On screens (well mine anyway) like the schedule, these may not be readily identified from one to the next, as in, if you are colorblind, could you tell Brampton and Brantford apart, if you also couldn't read the text very well? The Pittsburgh Pirates "P" is quite distinct from the Philadelphia Phillies "P" is my point.
I can offer a go on the uniforms, if just for a style check. |

That might be a good idea for the major league clubs, but for the minor league teams, it does not really matter. They just need to get done. If you had the time, give it a shot and try to do something better, with a different font or look for each. If you can come up with some simple unis, that would be great. They don't have to be complicated, just neat looking. The real effort will be on the major league stuff, and that should kick off Friday. |

Argh, I went to bed early last night and didn't see your post before I did jerseys up to Keswick, with, you guessed it, different colors! I'll be home sick today so I'll change up the colors with yours and have these done, hopefully. Thanks for the color picks, logos look great!

London Ontario has a rich tradition of baseball. It has the longest continually used ballpark in the world Labatt Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Labatt Park (yes named after beer)> Add them.
Otherwise, nice job.

zukes is right about London baseball, but it would be a stretch to call London part of the Golden Horseshoe.
Then again, my Hamilton (Ontario) Redbirds used to belong to the New York Penn League... |
