Form Fitting Jersey Overlay

Yes, I am still here and I still occasionally work on the jersey template. Here is a new overlay to supplement the one I did before OOTP2007. It's for a more athletic looking uniforms. For those with my template just open the file and copy the layer where layer 14 is in my template.

I tried using it as a shading template for just a few minutes. Here is what I came up with. Only marginally OK. I'll have to play with it a bit more.

Do my eyes deceive me or does this give pecs and a 6-pack?

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you.

Here is what it should look like.

Thanks for the pic. A picture's worth a thousand words.

OK. I tried 2 different treatments; the Pic on the left uses a combination of 2 different shading templates; the Pic on the right uses just the "athletic" template (and of course is more pronounced). Thanks again, Deft, for the new template.

OK. I cleaned up the design a little bit - so here is my design for the Ashland Orioles... You can see the definition of the abdomen in the enlarged pic (although not as pronounced as Deft's example).

Looks like its working for you, Ambermonk. I am going to start working on a loose fit that is more applicable to early 20th and late 19th century uniforms.

I'm sure that news will be well received by people like No Pepper & Cephasjames and other early era fans.

My only regret is that, inside of OOTP, only the top half of the uniforms are visible - even at distant view. I wish there was a way to display more of the uniform in the game. That would open up more design possibilities.

Thanks again for the template update.

A New Variation

Here's a little variation; I combined the bottom half of Deft's "Athletic" shading with the top half of his "original" shading to come up with Deft's Combo Shading. Here is the Carthage Cossacks jersey with Deft's Combo Shading, hope you like it...

I've modified the Deft Combo Shading some more - trying to get a more natural shading effect. Here's the same jersey for comparison...

Can you guys explain how to use the shadow overlays with existing jersey templates? i am using Photoshop, but am still somewhat of a n00b with it. This is the best i have done.

I don't use Photoshop so I can only give you the most general advise. Doing uniform designs in layers gives you a lot of control & flexibility. If you're using layers, you just place a shading layer as one of your templates - fairly high up in the layers. The most important thing about using shading layers is to make use of adjusting the transparency of the layer. This determines how pronounced (dark) the shading is.

As you may have noticed from all the examples in this thread, the same shading template can have widely different degrees of darkness. Personally, I prefer softer shading to make the jerseys look more natural but many people like them quite dark - it is purely a matter of taste, so suit yourself.

Hope this will help. If you have specific questions, post them and I'm sure that someone will be able to help you. You can also check out the last 2 or 3 pages of this forum for additional ideas. It will keep you busy while you're waiting for OOTP 9. Good luck, and post your results (and questions).
