Here's the background link that I gave to Donjamoni...

Looking for more player photo backgrounds

Probably the easiest way to get a texture look on the fabric (in Paint.Net) is to select a "fabric" layer and select Effects/Noise/Add Noise from the menu. I usually add noise about 20-30% for each texture layer.

Unfortunately the Berlin Logo blocked out most of the shading. Remember though, on your shading template, from the menu Layers/Layer Properties, start with 0 translucency (invisible) and drag the scroll bar from the far left to the right - until you get the shading degree that you like. I will sometimes rearrange the order of my layers so that the shading is on top of the text or logo. That's probably best to do for large text or logos (and perhaps less for small/detailed text or logos). Remember, you can change the order of the layers any time that you want (from inside the Layer window).

For Paris, I decided to dress them up as zouaves. Actually, the white circle thingies kind of make them look like they're wearing vests, but... eh.

Hmm. I put the shading and textures as the top 2 layers because otherwise they don't peek through the uniforms at all. I think the extreme lights and darks of the Weimar Republic coat of arms kind of wash out the shading and texture, although I like the effect that created - it looks like the coat of arms is make of something harder and stronger than the rest of the uniform, like they're wearing an actual man-shield. The period of time when the shield was "popular" (read: actually worn) also coincided with a fad around wearing fake ivory shirt cuffs and wristlets (they were really made of plastic. Classy). Why not have a faux ivory chest shield as well? It would have gone with a full handlebar mustache in a shockingly wonderful manner.

For your dark uniforms you might try using some of the other Blending Modes. The 4 that I use are Normal, Darken, Multiply, or the extreme Color burn. Try these out (sliding the transparency slider back & forth).

It looks like you're going to have quite an interesting league. Enjoy.

Five more unis:

A pretty straightforward design. I don't think the yellow here shows particularly well against the powder blue but otherwise I enjoy the funky 19th century style side buttons.

My original idea was to have the Union Jack emblazoned across the front of the uni. That didn't end up looking so well so I went with this understated style instead. The cap is the Montreal Expos' from the 1980s. I left off an insignia for now because I like the no-insignia look in general. On this cap, it does look kinda rare.

Not one of the teams in the league but I thought I'd share.

This is why I like the understated unis, despite all the extra time I spent on the RCMB, the French zouave, and the next one. Doesn't this look like a guy who is going to steal your soul and nuke your children?

On the other hand, this is probably my new favorite. There's a cross in there just below what the picture shows. I kinda wanted that to be visible but the compromise would have been to make the guy look like he was wearing old man pants.

Just about done with these, which is actually a pretty big bummer. I spent a pretty large amount of time on this one:

The scrambled eggs and bacon are lifted from Jill O'Flannery's painting "El Matador", which I GISed. Thank goodness for 2008ness!

My my! These are some of the most imaginative ideas that I've ever seen for uniforms. You've certainly been busy. You may have to start some additional leagues just to give your uniforms a home! Good job.

Thanks! These were a lot more fun than I thought they'd be. Also, I was really of two minds WRT rapidly expanding my league but now I'm totally behind it because this means I get to make more unis!

Just a friendly correction. I believe it's Zauberflöte (alternately you can use floete to represent the umlaut)

Since a number of composers were from Austria, perhaps "Musik" might be a decent name.

Yah Syd, where's your Joseph Haydn uniform? Perhaps you can have the Zauberflöte Symphony (they make music when they play)!

Thanks, Musik is even better. I was calling them the Meisterflauten, which is even worse (it means something along the lines of "master flutes", which doesn't make a whole lot of sense even if the "flouten" was a "flote". See, this is where knowing a tiny smidgen of German from playing in the orchestra in high school gets you into trouble).

I'll be changing their name next season, no doubt.
