Help? Uniform Creation for Dummies?

Later tonight, I can post my series of specific questions, but meanwhile can I ask for some initial pointers on where to go for initial pointers?

I'd r e a l l y like to use customized uniforms for the new league, but I go to this link and that, look at silvam's, deft's, ambermonk's, syd's, advice and creations and frankly - - - I just come to a screeching halt; somewhat overwhelmed.

At this juncture, I guess I'm looking for two things on the front end: a very simple walk-through for a very basic uniform (and cap) creation for someone a bit familiar with graphics (but don't assume that!) and perhaps a collection of links that would enhance that walk-through, preferably one that is designed for the get-started-wannabe like me.

Thanks in advance, guys. I appreciate all your help in making this game so much better with being able to make it our own individual worlds. You're the best!

Ok endgame, first thing that we will need to know is what graphics program you're planning to use. Then we can point you in the right direction!

But if you are just starting out, then I would reccomend using Deft's in-game styles (which you can get from padresfan's site, among others). That way all you will need to worry about to start with is the jersey logo, which is the easiest part.

For a guide to the size, here are two from one of my leagues:

If you make your logo to that size, and then load it up in-game, it wiil be the right size, and in the right location on the jersey.

Once you've got the basics of that, then it'll be easy to move on to jerseys made entirely outside the game, using ambermonk's or deft's layered templates, should you wish.

Popping in now and then while at work (surprise ) - Thanks, ER, for the willingness to jump right in and help. It is much appreciated. As for programs, I'm have Paintshop Pro9 (I think that's right) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 (I think that's right too), but I am most familiar with Paintshop; I've used it more often creating logos etc...

No problem - though I'm afraid I've never used either of those two programs, so hopefully someone else will be able to jump in and give you some specific advice there.

In the meantime, if you haven't already used them, I would definitely advise trying out Deft's styles, have a play around with them in game, and see what you think. If you've already made logos in the past, then you'll probably be fine putting together some simple jersey graphics, and its a testament to the quality of Deft's work just how good the uniforms look once they have a logo on them.

After that you can always play around with adding shading and so on, although that will depend a lot more on your graphics program, and how it deals with having different layers.
