PSP X2 & PSP 7 templates uploaded

I have uploaded four Paint Shop Pro X2 templates to PadresFan's site.
http://www.padresfanmods.net

There are modern jersey, vintage jersey, cap and circular logo templates. I have permission from Deft and Ambermonk to include their layers. One or two shading layers are from posts in this forum but I don't remember who posted them. Most of the layers come from Deft's v2.0 file that PSP users couldn't open. I would also like to credit No Pepper for the original Vintage Jersey template.

I would like to save these files in PSP7 format so more people can use the files but PSP X2 will not allow me to save the file in layers. It merges the layers. If anybody knows how to retain the layers when saving to a different version please let me know and I'll take the time to do it. I've used PSP9 and saved to PSP7 without any problem other than loosing most of the organization.

I have sent the PSP7 version to PadresFan. There will be a modern jersey and a logo template.

Do you know where these are on Padresfan's site? Maybe I'm missing something, but I just see Deft's templates.

I can't find them either. Maybe Padrefan has not added them to the site as yet! I am looking forward to using them though as I understand PS Pro a lot better than the other graphics programs people are using. Thanks, Micropterus58!!

Haha, thanks for the update, Padresfan. Sorry for all the agitation. I really appreciate your hosting of all these mods.

Thanks for doing that PadresFan, I think that is the only place I didn't look to find it. My bad. And hey, I agree with everyone else about your hosting all of these mods, thank you very much for doing that. I don't know where we all would be without you doing that.

And thanks to micropterus58 for doing that for us paintshop pro X2 users. I have photoshop as well, but I cannot seem to figure out layers in that program, or anything else, for that matter. I guess one gets used to one format and that's it!

Again, thanks to all of you who do the mods and those who host them. We probably don't pat you guys on the back enough, but I will now! PAT PAT PAT!

I found that I need to patch PSP X2 so that I can save a PSP7 version with layers. It will take a while since I have to undo all of the grouping before saving. Unfortunately PSP X2 merges all of the grouping I've done and some of the vector information. I don't have PSP7 but I can verify the file is OK in PSP9. After I'm done I'll upload the modern jersey and circular logo templates to PadresFan.

I've converted the jersey template to PSP7. I had to remove all groups except those using masks. I need some help with the circular logo template. Since I don't have PSP7 I can't fix it. The text on top is upside down. I need someone with PSP7 to edit the file. You need to know how to place text on a path. Otherwise anybody that uses it will have to fix it themselves.

Thank you very much. I have PSP X2. Now, my question is....what the heck do all of those layers do individually? Yeah, I am fairly dense, I admit it but unless I can see what each one does then how do I know which ones I want to turn on and off? I suppose the only way would be to do each one separately but that would take me, like forever to do. Is there an easier way to figure all of that out that I don't know about, or understand? Sorry, but layers just drive me crazy trying to figure out.
In any event, thank you for doing what you have. I will keep winging it I guess.

Winging it is a good start. Make a copy of the template. Fiddle around with the copy so you don't screw up the template. You will learn a lot by experimenting.

The template is set up so you can turn on/off layers. Think of a layer as a clear sheet of paper. The layers are piled on top of each other. Images are drawn on each sheet. Think of the window cling thingies your mother or wife sticks on the windows for the holidays. If you pile all the stickers on top of each other you get a mess. If you spread them out you can see each one.

PSP allow you to make groups. This make the template organized. Shoulder graphics are in one group. You can use the lowest shoulder layer if you want a single color. If you want a different option turn on one layer in the shoulder & sleeves group. Use the shoulder 1 as an example. Turn this layer on. There are two layers, main (red) and trim (blue). Use the fill tool to change colors. Use one or both layers.

The button pads, stripes, pinstripes, various designs, shading and textures are all optional. Use them in combination with each other. Look at the posts where others show their jerseys. Create your own layers and add to the template. Make the template your own.

I have uploaded the PSP7 versions of the modern jersey and logo templates to PadresFan. Look for them soon.

I can't get the title to change. I want to add PSP7 to the title so people can find it when searching. If anybody can help, let me know. I did use the 'Go Advanced' button and it does change the title in the first post.

Yeah, I figured that is what I would have to do. Would be nice for some of us dummies out here if the names of the layers were a little more descriptive of what they actually change in the uniforms. I just don't recall that many different colors to a MLB uniform. But, I suppose that gives everyone a chance to change whatever he wants about an individual uniform color. So, yeah, I will wing it for awhile. I may just combine a number of the color changes that I am not interested in and make it a little easier for me.

By the way, this is not a criticism of the mod. It is outstanding, but just a little too much for this old dummy to figure out without spending a great deal of time on it. But, I thank you for a job well done. A very comprehensive set of files to work with. I will figure it out, eventually!
