New graphics tool for ballcaps and jerseys

I'm anything but a graphics expert. I get into GIMP, Paint, Corel Draw, you name it and sooner or later I screw up, even though technically I'm supposed to know how to use GIMP. PhotoShop scares me. Getting into layers, polar grids, font sizes...it gets too complicated too fast. But at the same time I want to be able to make easy, simple ballcap logos (a cursive green letter "T", a sharp-looking, all-block-cap blue "SD," etc.) and named, non-logo jerseys ("Tuscon" in green script, "Aztecs," etc.). I need simple commands, the ability to set the graphic to 600 dpi and 300x300 pixels, and to easily save it in transparent .PNG format.

Well, I found a solution. It's cheap, and it has a demo. It's called The Logo Creator. Most controls (font size, curvature, angle) are _sliders_. It has its own fonts and can also use your system fonts. You yank things around with the mouse. It does outlines easily. Color selection takes hex and RGB values, so if you're using something like Hex Color Finder you can match graphic logo colors exactly. It does shadows, 3D, you name it. And it saves, in one command, to your ballcap or jersey folder in transparent PNG.

It's easy to use, too. Now if you find a great team logo that you want to use for, say, the Flagstaff Heroes, you can whip up a matching "F" for their ballcaps in seconds, and then crank out a matching "Heroes" jersey logo in the font of your choice. It's so easy to use that I am able to make great looking jerseys and ballcaps, and that means it's _really_ easy.

The program is supposed to be for business logos, but I ignore all of that and just use the text tools to make ballcap and jersey logos. Don't use any of their templates. Just start entering your text and modifying it.

If this interests you then you can try it for free. The official site is at The Logo Creator - easy to use Logo Design Software and the thirty-day free demo is on Tucows at Downloads - The Logo Creator 5.0 Demo Software

If you're not Cephasjames or Silvam14 or such, I urge you to check it out. I tried it and then bought a copy for like twenty bucks on Amazon.

And don't forget to set your export resolution to 600dpi or you'll think that the resolution sucks! The default setting is not a happy one.

Holy cow! I have that program and never even gave it a thought to use in this game for logos and such. Kind of stupid of me actually. Good going. And thanks for the information. I am going to try that myself. As you say, the program is very easy to use. Just one question though, what size logos and uniform lettering do I use? Thanks again for your good thinking.

They tell me that jersey logos and ballcap logos are both good at 150x150 pixels. Fit the lettering inside that.

Thanks! I tried the program but the logos look terrible even at 600dpi's. I suppose I could try a higher setting. The program is a little confusing to use as well. But, I will keep working with it and see what I can do with it. And yeah, I am totally lost with the layers thing in those other programs. I am one of those hands on kind of guys who has to do it himself before he understands how to do it. Reading a manual just never works for me at all. Oh well.

Anyway, thanks. I used 150 by 150 because I looked at the other graphics here in the game.

Try 300x300. The game will reduce them down.

And I'm getting awesome-looking logos, so it has to be settings.

Ok, I will try that. Makes sense. Maybe I am doing something else wrong. Which wouldn't be the first time in sixty years!

I've been using this program for quite some time for my uniform lettering. Works great for me.

Did you ever mention it? If you did I must have missed it. I just stumbled onto this program the other day.

I'm glad it works for you as well as it does for me.

Yep. Several guys picked it up after that. But, that was quite some time ago. Great to see it mentioned again. Looks like it's been updated, as well.

Yes, it was. It sure makes killer ballcap and jersey text logos.
