Shading Templates
I've been thinking of updating my 1960-2008 MLB jersey set with shading. I've poked around a little to find a good shading template, but I haven't been able to find one I'm happy with in *.png format. Can someone grab a couple of the shading layers in GIMP or PSP, and save it off as a single layer *.png format for me? Also, any recommendations on opacity %?

Although I haven't used these templates in the form they are in, the ones I have used are typically 25% opacity or even lower. With jersey logos and lettering often in the way, the effect should be subtle.

Ok, playing around with different opacities. Please let me know which you think looks best (25% - 50% - 75%):

With that particular shade I'd go with about 40%

When I did the one you show there, we had some discussion about the opacity: Jersey wrinkles

Ok, given there are over 420 jerseys in my set, I've decided to go with 50% and use that for every one of them. Makes it a bit easier to mindlessly overlay. The slightly darker 50% looked better on dark uniforms, and I didn't feel it was too much for the home white jerseys. I've updated my file at AllSimBaseball, and sent a new file off to PadresFan, too.
Enjoy!

Now, Ill admit Im a newbie OOTP men, but for years been modding other games.
Even on the most tedious graphics, like GUI screens whith dozens of buttons that have 4 or 5 different versiosn each for 'rolloever' ect, you have to micromanage things liek shading. Sometimes its not as easy as 40% on light or 60% on dark. You just have to take it case to case. The great thing is there are good shading templates/overlays for OOTP, and by the time your jersey just needs that ajusted, your so close to having it done.. might as well tinker with the slider to find what looks best! |
