Vista
Will ootp X be Vista compliant?
My '9' version has suddenly stopped working for DEP reasons associated w/ Vista. There is a whole thread on this in the '9' Tech forum. Seems to be some "official" ootpd point-of-view that is everyone running Vista isn't having a problem, then no one must be having a problem. With vista's growth, this will be a problem. But, I need to know if this problem is fixed before I buy 'X'. |

I don't know what your individual trouble with OOTP 9 is. I don't doubt that you have some sort of conflict.
No one on the beta team for OOTP 10 has reported such conflict running the game, but they haven't reported any issues running OOTP 9 either. |

Clearly there is a problem. I'm not an expert (or even knowlegable) on these things, but it seems from the various posts that Vista causes compatibility problems w/ some programs. This seems to be recognized by the "experts". seems to be something to do w/ DEP (which I had never heard of before yesterday) So, I would hope that the ootp x program does whatever other new programs do to ensure compatability w/ Vista. From my reading of the posts, I asume that this is a well-understood issue in the programming community Unless you suggest otherwise, I will buy it...but if it doesn't run, would expect a refund; no? * Cool Hand Luke |

Been running Windows 7 Beta for over a month without any problems whatsoever. I run it in administrator mode. It is FAST too.

I'm not too happy with Windows 7. Even though I'm using the 64-bit version, it doesn't run much faster than my nLite installation of XP. Plus, it's harder to tweak than old versions of Windows. Microsoft is hiding all the toggles. I still haven't figured out how to turn off System Restore.

All my benchmarks don't show Windows7 64-bit running any significantly faster than Windows XP 64-bit. Maybe with better drivers, 7 will run faster. Right now, it's mostly using Microsoft default drivers for system devices, such as the ATA interfaces.

Did buy new Vista
Hi,
I just purchased a new HP Vista PC. Everything works fine (downloaded latest version of OOTP 9). HOWEVER, there are alot of minor differences from XP,mostly navigating around (example how to download and place things in proper folders) But then again I still use my Abacus Gil |

I am happy to report 9 works fine with Vista here. I haven't run any solo leagues yet, but just downloaded and exported one of my online league files flawlessly!
Hopefully 10 continues to be that way! |

I've been running OOTP 9 on Vista since OOTP 9 was released. Not only has it been flawless... It hauls.
I run it on an Intel E6550 (Core 2 Duo, 2.33GHz with 4 MB cache and 1333 FSB) with 4 Gigs of RAM. I have a retail version of Vista Ultimate and run a 2 Gig USB-Flash-Drive for ReadyBoost. For anyone running Vista... I highly recommend picking up a 2 or 4 Gig USB-Flash-Drive plugging it in a USB port in the back that is directly off the motherboard and setting it up as a ReadyBoost drive. It can dramatically increase the speed of many CPU and cache/HDD intense procedures (which are common to simming and reporting in OOTP). |

I've had no problems running OOTP 9 on Vista since I bought my new laptop with it pre-installed a couple of months ago. I'm assuming OOTP X won't be a problem either. Of course, Vista isn't the best OS so I would recommend downgrading to XP and running it there.
