Random Hangups

Hey guys, thanks for the game! I'm new this year, and was biting at the bit waiting for release. I'm glad that day has arrived

I was able to download, install and license, without any issues at all. My only issue comes while playing the game. The game will hang for really long periods of time. I've had this happen while doing a variety of actions; while simming (sims fine, then hangs on a random game not always at the end of the sim), also had it hang while switching tabs inside the game (looking at a player profile, then switching to roster, or any other window).

I'm using windows XP (SP3) and OOTPX

Other than this issue, I've had no problems what so ever with the game. Awesome product. Those of you that didn't preorder are missing out

Have you got an anti-virus or indexing service running. If you have, can you turn them off for the OOTP directory.

Also you'll occasionally get a delay as the AI does stuff, but not normally that long.

I don't use windows indexing no. I'll see what I can disable in McAfee. For the record, I played the OOTP9 demo while I waited, and did not have this issue.

How big of a universe do you have going on as well? The bigger the universe and history the longer it takes to get through it all.

And just to make sure, windows indexing is on by default in versions of windows (vista I think) so you would have to conciously turn it off.

How big is the universe? Hmm, I'm new, sorry. I just clicked New 2009 MLB Season on the opening window to start a game. I didn't make my own league, and throw out some radical number of teams. So however big it is, it should be inside acceptable limits. I'm still running XP, but other than that, this is a gaming computer. I'm not trying to run on archaic hardware.

And as for indexing, I know it's on by default, but I hate it, so I turned it off

It sounds like it could be an isolated issue with my configuration? No one else is having such an issue? Or are you all just being helpful, without having a chance to check it out for yourself. I'll keep working on troubleshooting my own computer.

Good call, it's awful The MLB league is huge by default includes 6 leagues with 30 teams each. What are you system specs? Specifically memory?

No one needs Vista.

For the record, no, this isn't normal.

Could you try disabling your anti-virus entirely and try again.

If that does not alleviate the issue, could you post a list of processes that are running on your system? (press ctrl-alt-del, click task manager, click processes tab)
