I want to get started, but I can't!
I downloaded the OOTP X software, and was VERY excited..the install program worked flawlessly. When I went to run the program, I get an error window which reads:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application." Has this been seen before? I presume it's something specific to my computer, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen this so that I can fix the problem on my end. Thanks!

I uninstalled my anti-virus program. I'm running XP SP3, 2 GB of RAM, Pentium 2 processor. I did the standard install to the default directories.

Soundblaster sound cards have been known to cause that error. Another cause can be a Windows XP Service Pack incompatibility. If you're using XP, which version do you have?

I fixed it by rolling back to XP SP2. It was a long process, but I believe my machine is running better, and the sight of Fenway Park was glorious as the game opened with no hesitation!
Thanks so much!

You had a virus or some kind of malware on your machine. The rollback simply eliminated the affects of that malware.
Now that you have the game working, get your OS updates asap and re-install your AV software!! Also, install "malwarebytes". It's free and will do a pretty good job of crosschecking your AV scans from your normal AV program.
