Two teams tied for first, no tie breaker scheduled
I just finished the 1879 National League, and two teams finished for first after the season was finished, and no tie-breaker game was scheduled. I am pretty sure v9 scheduled the one game playoff.

How do you have your playoffs set up? Often, the game won't have a playoff if there is nothing at stake in the seedings for the postseason.

It is one league, no divisions, eight teams, the team with the best record is the champs, no postseason.
The only reason I bring it up here, is because I am pretty sure that I had this same set up in v9 and had the tie-breaker scheduled. It seems that in v10 this time around, it gave the team with the better head to head record the championship, which is fine. I just restored the game from a backup and scheduled the tie breaker my self. Its the fact that I thought it was in v9 and not in v10. Could be intentional for all i know.

interesting, I'm having the same issue.
I know we used to have an issue with meaningless tie-breaker games for 2nd place when the playoffs was disabled. It appears the fix may have been to eliminate all tie-breaker games within a no-playoff format?

Like I said before, in my situation the game awarded the league championship to the team that won the head to head battle.
As I have yet to get a tie for first again so far, I am not sure if that is always the case. My guess is that you are right pbar25, that the fix was to just eliminate all tie breaker games for no playoff leagues, which is alright by me, as long as I remember to schedule the tie-breaker game myself.

Can you give me your current take on this, Cras? Is this issue manageable on the user end then without it being logged as a problem? Is this an area that we'll need to put on the list for an update to the manual section, if it's not in there already?

It is definately user manageable, as long as the user knows and remembers to do it. A notation in the manual that when a player selects to disable playoffs that it will then disable all first place tiebreaker matchups (and then confirms that it is indeed the head to head record that determins the champion) is all that is required in my opinion.

Great. Thanks for the feedback. I'll close this then and send a note to Steve with regard to the manual suggestion.
