"Invalid Password" error while trying to license, now game will not start
After installing the game and entering my license, I got the error message "Error Code 6 - Invalid Password". Since then, the game now fails to start. Launching the game immediately brings up an error message "ootp10.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" every time. I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and have tried disabling my firewall (ZoneAlarm) before reinstalling and launching the game.
I'm running Windows XP SP3. |

I'm fairly confident we'll be able to resolve this issue, so let's not go down the "refund road" just yet.
![]() Currently, the ootp10.exe quits unexpectedly, but it no longer throws the error, correct? Let's try removing your license and starting over. Note: At this point, I don't see any need to uninstall and reinstall the game! Let's try this: 1. Make a copy of your OOTP shortcut 2. Modify the properties of the new shortcut, adding -unlicense to the end of the Target, so that it looks something like this: c:\program files\out of the park developments\ootp baseball 10\ootp10.exe -unlicense 3. Start up OOTP using this new shortcut. It should prompt you to remove your license. 4. Uninstall your license following the prompts on-screen. 5. Start up OOTP again, and reinstall your license following the on-screen prompts. 6. Launch OOTP. Let's see if this works. We'll get this working for you! Steve

unlicensed and relicensed, but game is still crashing
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm a big fan of the OOTP series and eager to get this working, so I appreciate your help. Following the steps you listed, I was able to successfully unlicense OOTP. I then reinstalled the license (this time with my firewall software turned off, that must be what caused the "invalid password" error when I initially tried to license the game after downloading).
However, after reinstalling the license I clicked "Launch" and OOTP crashed. Now I'm back to the point where I get "ootp10.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" each time I click the shortcut or exe. |

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, things have been pretty crazy around here...
![]() If you try launching the game with your firewall off, does it work? It still seems like the game is failing every time it tries to reach out to the Internet to check your license status.

I spoke a bit with eLicense, because I'm fairly sure it's crashing when it's trying to talk to eLicense. Can you try these steps, perchance? Disable your DEP (Data Execution Prevention) using these steps: 1. Right-click on "My Computer" 2. Select "Properties" 3. Click on the "Advanced" Tab. 4. Click on the Performance "Settings" Button 5. Click on the "Data Execution Prevention" Tab 6. Select the "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" Thanks! Steve

Sigh, what about antivirus?
Can you try disabling both ZoneAlarm and your antivirus program before launching? (Not hopeful on this one, but I'll give it a try anyway.)

Sorry my previous reply was unclear. ZoneAlarm is both the firewall and the antivirus software. I am not using another separate firewall or antivirus other than ZoneAlarm. OOTP still does not launch even with ZoneAlarm disabled.

IS,
I really think there's some fundamental Vista thingy going on here. Can you try looking at this post, and see if any of that information helps? I heard from another customer that turning off Windows indexing and excluding OOTP files from regular virus scans eliminated crashing for him, too, although I suspect the first post is more likely to be helpful to you.
