Step By Step Online League Setup for Owner on Mac

Hello,

I'm looking for some step by step directions for an owner in our league for setting up the league on his Mac. The file is online but he is pretty computer illiterate, and I don't have the Mac version to test it on my Mac here at home.

Thanks for any assistance. FYI there is nothing in the manual about how a owner first gets the league file...

You have to send him a link via e-mail or even the file via e-mail. He should then put it wherever OOTP loads league files from on a mac and extract it there.

Hope this helps!

Yes I realize that part... Nothing is different on that part of Windows to Mac.

The problem is that Dangarion has only played on the windows version of the game and never has bought the Mac version. He is trying to help a mac user in his league understand where to create the league.lg folder and extract the files to. He needs help with that information, not the part that is the same on all platforms (the email or download the league.tar.gz part)

Nothing is the same on the Mac and PC versions when it comes to everything after downloading the file. How does the Mac user uncompress the file? Where do the uncompressed files go?

It would see since there have been more then one version of this game that worked on a Mac that someone would have created this type of information. Heck I don't even see this type of information included in the manual for a PC to point users to if they are unsure how to do it either.

So you are telling me no one knows how to do this basic setup on a Mac? Anyone on the beta team even use a Mac? How about anyone that helped the manual? I just find it funny that this isn't already wrote up in the manual for PCs and Macs...

Ok. If I can download the mac version and get a free trial period, I will figure out where these files have to go.

Apparently the Mac download does not give you a demo/trial period? Oh well. Not too helpful.

This is a stupid question, but Mac owners can play in a league with windows owners, correct?

Yes, they can. I'm not much help on the other questions since I don't know anything about Mac unfortunately. However Mac, Linux and Windows users can play in the same league together without issues.

I zipped my whole entire league.lg file, sent it to the guy. He unzips it, and moves the main folder into in his saved_games folder and sees the game but gets the "could not load world file" message.

I'm stumped and would like any help please.

Does it say could not load world file because of what reason? There are a few different error messages that could come up. One that I have seen from time to time lately was could not load world file possibly due to different version. If that is what he is getting, I think I have a fix for him on that.

I would make sure that the permissions on the files and directories are set properly after unzipping to allow execution and loading.

Make sure the League.lg folder is saved under:

/Users/<NAME>/Documents/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 10/saved_games

(If you used the default install path)
