Terrible game crash bug

After one week of a new MLB Quickstart, general managing the Mets, the game crashes every time I hit a team management option like "review roster," and my schedule is gone. The standings and stats are there, but there is no game schedule and no prior scores. The game does not show that the Mets (or any team) has a game on April 13 or any subsequent date.

I am playing on a PC and in the most straightforward way possible, and I diligently save every time.

I did not backup after the last two games and don't want to lose them, nor should I have to.

Please instruct me on how to fix this as soon as possible.

To add to the oddness

When I go to select league, everything below double A is just listed as "(All)".

All the transactions, messages, etc. work fine.

I am playing with the most updated patch, 10.2.16.

If it matters, the game "choked on" my license a couple of days ago after installing the last patch. When I reloaded, it realized I have a license. Not sure this matters.

I can't imagine I did anything wrong, other than not making a backup for the last two times I played. I hit "save game" and "quit" after each time I play. I believe the game saves again when I quit because of some box I checked, but I didn't think that the "belt and suspenders" of that would cause any harm.

I have tried to load the saved game both from the "continue game' and "load game" function and it doesn't matter either way.

Bummer.

Still trying to figure it out

Well, I've now spent a good part of Saturday trying to figure this out.

If it helps, I'll note that I am using 10.2.16, the first trade had just occurred last night (before the crash started happening this morning).

I can see that maybe I need to uninstall/reinstall. I tried to unlicense. However I don't have that elicense thingy on my control panel, nor did the start menu/ootp10/tools option get to me to where I need to be.

I have done everything the normal way, and then I see from Steve that none of my stuff is supposed to be in "My Documents." Well, all my OOTP stuff loaded to "My Documents" by default.

Totally frustrated and ready to pack it in. Willing to start all over if anyone can give a reasonable assurance that starting a new game with patch 3 will not get all fugged up after one week of play.

Btw

When I said "Transactions" work fine, I meant I can still see historical transaction log. The rosters themselves seem gone, with the schedule.

time is running out

I played the game in a completely ordinary way, installed all the patches, and then this database problem occurs. I then go to unlicense 'CAUSE I AM WILLING TO START ALL OVER AGAIN, AND THAT TOO HAS A BUG, AND SEEMINGLY REQUIRES A COMPUTER DEGREE TO ACCOMPLISH.

If I don't see some good comprehensive and easily understood advice on this in 24 hours, my $30 will be coming back into my pocket. I am new and have enjoyed this game a lot over the last month, but if I can't trust it I can't immerse myself in it. I would be a really good customer but I can't sit here all day with a broken game and no one helping (with apologies to Rich W. who at least asked a question.)

I'm calmer now

My last message was a bit vituperative, sorry.

What I want to know is this: what is the least buggy way to play?

Fictional? No scouts? I want to avoid losing another season and am flexible about these things.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your post, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The first few weeks after the release are always pretty busy around here.

First off, regarding your original problem, I'm . . . a little bit at a loss. It certainly sounds like something is seriously mangled in that league, but I'm not sure I can help with it at all unless you send us your league files and we'll get Markus to take a look. I definitely don't think uninstalling/reinstalling will fix that. (If you do want to send in your league files, please use the instructions here.)

In terms of which is the "least buggy" way to play . . . that's a tough thing for a company representative to respond to. But, my suggestion would be to go for a relatively simple fictional league. As with anything, the more options you use, the more complexity, and necessarily the more likelihood of problems. Of course, our expectation is that you can play with any of the game options and not run into problems, but it seems that hasn't been the case for you, for which we apologize.

I don't see any reason that you should need to uninstall your license in any of the scenarios you have set forth.

You do score points for using the word "vituperative" though.

I hope some of this helps...

Steve

Thanks for understanding

Steve,

Good show-- thanks for not overreacting to my overreaction. I was away on business for a few days and have started a fictional league with one level of minors, and loving it so far. As long as I don't lose my database I'll be a happy customer.

Of note, to try to fix the problem I had for other customers:

1. I started my season after patch 1, then installed the other two patches.

2. My scout, in his "upcoming series" report, would list the second and third game starters as the same people. I.e., he would project that Oliver Perez would start games 2 and 3. In my fictional league, this does not happen. So I think the league I had might have been cursed/warped somehow from the beginning. However, in my frustration I have deleted it.

Joe

As the OP has deleted the league and there are no reports identical to the one here, I'm closing this thread. However, please start another thread should a similar problem arise, or point to one of a similar nature so the problem can be better identified.
