2 issues

Hey there,

I have run thru 9 seasons now and have yet to have my scout discover a single international prospect.

In one league, it was just a basic quickstart league, starting in 2009 with default settings and default ML rosters.

In another league, it was a custom league that I created with 2 leagues, 4 divs, 6 teams in each.

I have spent anywhere from 1-10 mil on my international budget and always have had scouts with at least a 15 on the 20 scale for int'l scouting.

I am on the latest 2.16 patch.

Also, in the aforementioned custom league, my rookie ball team does not function properly. Each year, only 1-2 batters accumulate stats and only 3 pitchers accumulate. The roster is full and the lineups and starting rotation are setup right.

Any help would be great. Posts elsewhere have not helped.

And, in further digging, my Short Season A team is ONLY playing during the first half of the year. Aren't they supposed to play in the 2nd half?

You might have to change the start date yourself. I think in custom leagues, the start date for all leagues in April 1 by default. Go to the Game Setup area and change the start date to something else, like July 1 for the short A and rookie leagues. It's too late for the current season, but the changes will take effect next season anyway.

I don't really have much to add about the scouting issue. Sorry.

Good Luck

All tests indicate that international scouting is functioning. Does it require too much to invest for the potential reward? Possibly. I don't know.

But try this if you're interested. Backup your league of course. I simply .rar the whole league folder before messing around with these settings. Get to preseason where you alter the settings and dial up your international focus. If you have doubts about your scout's abilities, edit those up too for testing's sake. Now I know at 100% with a fairly good scout, you'll turn up a prospsect within a month, maybe every month. But I don't know what setting would feel right for you.

In a way, I guess you could pass off the eventual alterations as running budget sims to establish a new scouting program , but in any event the process will alert you as to functionality and, perhaps, your particular requirements to net any finds.

Just found the start date in the league settings. It was set to April 3 and I have it changed now. Hope that works! Thanks for the tip.

For the scouting aspect, I'm not sure what to do there really. I had OOTP 9 and with much poorer scouts and much lower funds, they turned up 3-4 prospects a year. Regardless of scouting talent or funding in OOTP 10, I've yet to have one person come up.

mpbarnet,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your thread.

The first issue you mentioned regarding the international scouting is a known issue documented here. (So, you're not crazy. ) Please go to that thread if you would like to add any more information there.

Can you let me know how things worked out with your Short Season schedule? If all looks good there, I'll go ahead and close out this thread.

Thanks!

Steve
