Accumulated stats not resetting in following season

1. What, specifically, were you doing when the problem occurred?

I was simming the first few weeks of the 2018 season.

2. What happened? Was there an error message?

I was at the beginning of the 2018 season when I noticed that all players in the league still had their stats from 2017. As each game was played, the 2018 stats were added to the totals from 2017.

3. Were you able to repeat the error with this same game? With another game? If so, what steps did you take?

I have not repeated this error. If I had made a backup I would have restored from that point and tried again but I hadn't.

4. If relevant, what do you think the program should have done?

At the beginning of each season, all player stats should be reset (natch).

5. What is your league configuration (fictional/historical, etc.)

Fictional MLB style setup with full minors + college and high school feeder leagues.

6. Are you a PC, Mac, or Linux user?

PC (Vista), running latest patch

VA,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your thread.

A few questions:

1. Do you continue to experience this problem?

2. What kind of a league was this? (historical? fictional? mlb?)

3. What level were the players in? (majors, minors?)

4. It might help if you could FTP us a copy of your league files.

Thanks very much,

Steve

I can definitely FTP the league files this weekend. I stopped playing the league once I discovered the problem but I didn't erase it just in case you guys wanted to take a look at it.

To answer your questions:

I haven't had it happen since, but I've only done one more league in that time and it has run for 100 years without error.

It is a fictional MLB league with full minors and High School and College Feeders.

The error occurred with the Major League players. It may have happened throughout the league for all I know but I didn't look beyond the ML.

Did this get looked at with the uploaded file? It sounds like a slightly screwy schedule that has forgotten to move on a year.

I have had this problem as well. Fortunately it only happened in a minor league, not in the major league. It is an online league with historical players but fictional teams.

It started when the game did not schedule playoff games after the 1968 season. Then 1969 started, and all the stats were added to the 1968 stats and again there were no playoff games. Now I'm to 1970, and again the stats keep piling up into the 1968 season. When I go into the league schedule editer, the current year is not even available as a date, only the last two years. Is there a way to reset the league to start a new season?

Thanks.

Can you provide a copy of these league files so that Markus can take a look?

This does appear to be a problem with the playoffs and the season not ending when it should. Quite what causes this I'm not sure. It's either the fact that the playoff starts or the regular season ends event has been corrupted or removed.

If you look at the calendar dropdown where it lists upcoming events, what does it say is the date for "Regular Season finishes"

That's probably exactly what happens. The reason can be a lot of things, for example a screwed schedule (i.e. there was a bug in a previous version with historical schedules at times). Unfortunately, once this has happened there is no way to remove the accumulated stats from the previous stats, since the game still thinks it is the prior season.

However, if one would FTP me the league files (*.dat), I may find out more about the initial reason.

The "here" link doesn't work in that post, Steve.

Edit: The "here" link works in that post now, Steve. Thanks, TS.

It says "6-22-1970: 1968 Regular Season Ends". However, on Aug. 20, 1969 and also at the end of 1968 there were news items announcing the end of the regular season, but there were no playoffs. I tried to manually schedule playoff games to force a rollover to a new season, and it didn't work. Appreciate your help guys.

Thanks Markus,
I understand the accumulated stats issue. At this point, I'm just trying to get the game to finally roll over to a new season instead of continuing to pile stats onto 1968.

FWIW, I've had this happen in past versions of OOTP when the seasons were much shorter than 162 games.

This league had 130-game seasons. Did your problem correct itself when you expanded the schedule to 160-ish games?

I think it did, but it's been awhile since I had the problem. Probably best to back up the league before trying that, if you're attached to it.

edited to add: That's one of the things that would be nice one of these days, robust support for non-162 game seasons, especially shorter ones. As you can see, it kinda works, but not really.

Is there any news to report on this? Has anyone found the cause of this strange bug? Thanks!
