Empty Draft Pool

Version: 10.2.16
PC/MAC: All platforms
What were you doing? Attempting to begin the amateur draft.
What happened? No one showed up.
Reproducible? Yes
Problem occurs with other leagues? Yes

This post is in reference to an earlier issue I was having with OOTPX not spawning fictional players for the 2009 draft.

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...der-issue.html

As it turns out, the issue is related to the 'Amateur Draft Pool Reveal Date' setting in the 'Rules' section. I had the setting at 75 days and the draft pool would come up empty (with the exception of Strasburg and Ackley) every time. Once this setting is changed to anything other than 75 days, the draft pool spawns as it should.

I looked around but couldn't locate an active BZ for this.

Fredandres,

Thanks for your post, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I'm trying to figure out what the issue is here. I tried setting up my own league with a 75-day reveal date, and it worked fine, so whatever the problem is, it's not that the 75-day reveal date is wholly broken. I'm more of the mind that something was broken by your deleting of the feeder leagues. (Either way, I want to get to the heart of the problem.)

Have you ever seen this problem in another league? Or just this one?

Do you have a backup of your league files from before you deleted your feeder leagues? If so, could you FTP the files to us?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

This error occurs during an MLB Quick Start, starting the season on 04-04-09. I've included screenshots indicating the absence of draft picks and the draft list. Starting the draft list at 70 days alleviates this issue, so it's not a major issue by any means.

Photo 1: Indicating 70 days for the draft list and the presence of one in the menu.
Photo 2: Indicating 75 days for the draft list and the lack of one in the menu.
Photo 3: The draft, which shows only two players.

The problem with 75 days before draft in the MLB quickstart is that it doesn't start 75 days before the draft, so the game will assume the draft pool has been generated.

Right. I guess this was my original gripe. Reflecting on it again, I guess this is more of a user error than anything else, though this did lead to confusion. Maybe an error message might help here?

I'll note it down as a suggestion for the next patch or version. I don't know if it's an issue in anything but the MLB quickstart because it doesn't start on the 1st January.

In the meantime I'll close this thread as the issue has a work around of not revealing the draft more than 60 days in advance.
