newly generated players sent to retired list

I just finished my 22nd season. I have a fiction league, fiction players. I generate enough player for 5 rounds on draft pool players. Using 16 man rosters and 23 man rosters for 1 minor league. Each team plays 40 games spread out to 2 games a week, hence small rosters. Like I said in another post I have foreigners set at 0%. For some reason the game has generated 250 players from all over the world and put them straight into the retired players list. I just manually removed almost 300 players from that list. WHY DID IT DO THIS??? And will it do it for every season from now on? Now I'm so ticked off I don't even want to play this game again.

Do you have the "Maintain Hidden Players" button on?

If so, the game will create players in foreign countries for your scouts to find....

No, that option is off. Also I'm not using scouts. Besides why would this not happen until the 22nd season. The game only generated 80 players for the draft. Until this season. If I play another 20 season then I'll have 5000 players clogging up the retired list. I'm done playing until a solution is found.

So let me get this straight in my own head.. You unretired 300 players, then in the next amateur draft the game sent 250 amateur players to the retired list instead of the draft list? I don't know why someone would want to unretire that many players in the first place, but I'm thinking maybe the game decided having a full draft would give the league too many players. Or, if it's still recycling player IDs, then maybe the game retired the amateur players that would have the same ID as the players you unretired because you can't have players with the same ID. Either way, if it happened like you say then it sounds like a pretty clear case for tech support so it can be logged, yes?

I wanted to get rid of all the retired players in the list that never played a single game. After 21 season I only had around 300 so it took awhile but I deleted them. At some point after the game then generated the 250 players.
It only generated about 80 players per draft each season so I dont why it would make so many now.

Okay, well, I'm going to move this to tech support. You may want to edit your OP to include all the info the tech guys ask for.

If you simply wanted to get rid of all the retired players who never played in the majors, I'm pretty sure there is a toggle in game setup that will do that for you automatically. Toggle it now and by the time next season rolls around maybe those 250 new guys will all be gone and you won't have to do anything. You could even make a copy of your league and test it.

If that works I'm not sure a fix is needed, but I'll move the thread just in case.

EDIT: I'll give the thread another new more descriptive name now that I think I understand the problem better.

I learned something, you cant delete a player from the retired list by unretire then delete. The game will just generate one in its place. This is a flaw that should be fixed.

Hi there!

Thanks for your post, and very sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Sorry to hear about your frustration...

Is there any way you can FTP us your league files so we can take a closer look?

Thanks,

Steve

I dont think this a bug in the game. It must be just the way the program is written. I noticed that deleting a player after you unretire him the game will generate a new unused player in his spot on the retired list. So I'm not sure this is a tech support problem, just something that should have an option to delete players never used from the retired list. BTW I know you can select the option to delete players that never made it to the majors BUT I want to keep the minor league players who never made it. That option deletes those.

mm, thanks for all of your information here. It may not be a bug, but I've passed it along to Markus to take a look, at any rate. Meanwhile, I'll close out this issue.

Thanks!

Steve

There was a bug in the current version that players which are marked as 'deleted' show up on the retired players list. This is fixed in the next patch.
