game won't open on ubuntu

I just switched to ubuntu from windows and I installed the program just like I was supposed to and when I double click on the icon to start game absolutely nothing happens..... help?

What do you get when you start the game from the command-line?

bad something er other command line, umm i unistalled it and I am now running the windows version under WINE, it works fine kinda slow though I would like to install it under ubuntu if anyone has any ideas

Well, I have been successfully running under Ubuntu for months, so if you provide more information about the exact message you get from the command-line, instead of trying to use the icon, perhaps I can help.
